In Chief Duthie’s latest video, he introduces the Midtown Task Force, a proactive initiative to increase our visibility in Saanich’s Uptown–Douglas corridor. Officers are now on regular foot patrols in the area responding to community needs and deterring crime.

We're investigating a collision that happened last night that sent a pedestrian to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries. Alcohol was not a factor, however conditions and the actions of both the driver and pedestrian are believed to have played a role.

Safe driving saves lives, on and off the ice. Our TSU is working with Southern Division VIJHL teams to educate young hockey players about high-risk driving behaviours. The sessions are supported by the CRD Traffic Safety Commission, MADD & Kirby’s Source for Sports.

A driver was ticketed for excessive speed after being caught doing 121 km/h in a 50 zone. Their car was impounded, they received a ticket, and our TSU Sgt. is requesting that the driver be prohibited from driving.

Kids: use sidewalks, cross safely, and never enter strangers’ homes to receive treats.

A member of our Traffic Safety Unit, responding to a report of an impaired driver, seized approximately one kilogram of believed to be cocaine and over $20,000. He was also quick to stop the drivers attempt to flee.

We’re saddened to share the passing of retired PSD Grimm. A valued member of SPD, Grimm was a 2016 national tracking champ and he and handler Cst. Morin completed 100+ successful tracks. Retired in 2021, he passed away peacefully on Oct 13, at the age of 13. Thank you for your service, Grimm.

On Sept 28, a hit-and-run at Shelbourne Plaza left two pedestrians injured. Thanks to video footage, Traffic Safety Unit officers identified the driver, who has now been ticketed under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Patrol officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 3700 block of Quadra St. this afternoon. They arrested the suspect less than 30 minutes later a few blocks away.

Thank you to our 4 SPD officers taking part in the Ride to Remember. Over three days, they’ll cycle 400+ km from Vancouver to Victoria, honouring fallen law enforcement members, their families, colleagues, and friends.
3 days. 406 km. 3 km for each of the 135 fallen officers in BC.

A Quebec man, arrested at an airport as he attempted to leave BC, recently plead guilty to four counts of fraud. The four seniors who he attempted to scam will all be receiving their money back, which totaled over $43-thousand dollars.
