This one is a little surreal. My first paid, non-Polygon byline ... ever, and it's for PC Gamer. And, of course, it's for Destiny 2.

Here is my extensive preview of the Edge of Fate. It's long, but that's a reflection of just how much is changing in July.

The Edge of Fate will be the biggest change to Destiny 2 since it launched—an injection of fresh ideas, but also of ARPG grind
The launch of a new saga is bringing a massive shift to how Destiny 2 works.

I have played so much Deadlock in the past two weeks.
Deadlock isn't out yet. You can't even play it without an invite.

But it's going to take over the world.

Prepare accordingly.

Really love doing this show. And really thrilled to see that so many folks are enjoying it!

Just a few more weeks until we know everything (most things? Nothing, actually?) about the full game
So what's been going on with the recent Marathon character cinematics? And is Marathon gonna be at this week's State of Play?

I think we are really hogging Bill Maher, as a people. And that’s just not fair to the rest of the universe.

It’ll be hard, but I think we might need to share him.

He’s been _so great_, but where hasn’t he been that might need him more?

I’m thinking the surface of the sun? Open to other ideas.

I've spent quite a bit of time with Mewgenics over the past few weeks and it's pretty cool. There's a lot going on here.

It's also a long game that I don't have fun playing for prolonged periods.

Dove back into Highguard's new mode over the weekend and really enjoyed it ...

Unrelated, I have put about 8 hours into Deadlock since this mode came out.
Highguard's new 5v5 mode got added to the game less than a week after launch, and it's a huge improvement.

But when there are so many other things to play ... who is really going to notice?

Highguard's new 5v5 mode is so much better, but highlights how hard it is for games like this to succeed
Highguard's devs made some big improvements at high speed last week. But is that enough these days?

This is an absolutely head-ass take, and it swallows every other point he's trying to make.

It's true that the point of criticism isn't and shouldn't be to "hurt" the people who make the art you're critiquing. And if that is ever your intent, you aren't doing good criticism ...
