My first time really going crazy with reflections/see-through water (which is now one of my favourite things to do!). Painted as a gift for my sister. I believe this scene is Maligne Lake in Canada!

#26 - Acrylic on 18x24" canvas (pre-stretched), completed March 2, 2017.

My first and only time I did the Bob Ross mountain technique on canvas paper; honestly surprised it came out as well as it did considering the lack of canvas texture. The idea here was to do a similar scene to my first painting.

#25 - Acrylic on A3 canvas paper, completed February 27, 2017.

A re-do of painting #20 on a much larger scale. This is, I think, the first time I did properly sized mountains without the Bob Ross palette knife technique!

Scariest thing this month? My posture when drawing

This is the second time that I attempted to recreate an existing painting, though I unfortunately don't remember the artwork!

I remember wanting to try another aurora painting given that I'd improved so quickly since painting #7. Turned out better, I think!

Hot off the press - a wonderful oceanic sunrise scene. And so my 5 year art hiatus is officially broken...

#D2 - 'Sunrise Waves', painted with Clip Studio Paint and completed on 15th of October, 2025.

Painted for my friend Brittany who really wanted a waterfall (despite my previous traumas).

#21 - Acrylic on A3 canvas paper, completed February 15, 2017.

Another smallscale painting (even for me). My first time really getting into non-'Bob Ross'-style trees.

#20 - Acrylic on 20x20cm canvas (pre-stretched), completed February 12, 2017.

At the time this was the smallest scale painting I attempted! Still a fan of it.

#19 - Acrylic on 7.1x9.4" canvas (pre-stretched), completed February 12, 2017.

Being an artist trying to talk with other artists is just embarrassing. "I like your shapes and colours!" Mortifying playground shit

I am legitimately afraid of black holes so this was a tough thing to paint lol. Technically a fine painting, but I wouldn't paint something like this anymore.

While I was painting I recall hating my waterfalls, but in retrospect it's the clouds that I wanted to improve on the most. A good learning experience of what not to do!

The friend that this painting was for specifically wanted to give me a challenge to paint something I hadn't yet done before. They loved the colour orange and wanted something simple, and so sand dunes it was!

#15 - Acrylic on 16x20" canvas (pre-stretched), completed February 8, 2017.

Painted this one together with a friend at the time, both doing the same scene and me showing him the ropes.

I remember this being the first painting that I impressed myself with. I don't remember what happened to it!
Also my first time painting on canvas paper (because it was so much cheaper)

Painted for my friend Sam. I found the 1:2 aspect ratio awkward here, but it later became one of my favourite sizes to paint!

#12 - Acrylic on 12x24" canvas (pre-stretched), completed January 24, 2017.

I'm delving quite heavily into digital art for the first time and it's amazing to me how streamlined it makes everything. The atmosphere gradient here would have taken me *hours* with physical media, but took about 10 minutes with Clip Studio Paint. I'm in awe

My first time really consciously paying attention to depth. Painted for my friend Georgia.

My first ever commission! Albeit to my sister and for very few $, but still.

If I remember correctly, I was trying to paint Aoraki (Mt Cook) here. A gift to my mum.

One of my favourites for a while. I branched out (heh) with how I approached trees, and tried *really* hard to get the reflection just right, even doing a glacier for the first time! Painted for my friend at the time, Tayla.

#8 - Acrylic on 16x20" canvas (pre-stretched), completed January 9, 2017.

P.S. sorry everyone for the really poor image quality of my earliest paintings. I didn't start getting professional scans until my ~40th painting, so they'll get better in time I promise

My first time painting aurorae, using that classic Bob Ross technique. Painted for my friend Phoenix.

#7 - Acrylic on 16x20" canvas (pre-stretched), completed in January 2017.
