Storm starting to really crank offshore. All snow, no sleet and freezing rain. 250 miles to our south. I’m not mad. Please don’t put in the newspaper that I got mad.

Can't have refreezing problems if the stuff never melts! That's innovation

Been a seriously impressive and lengthy cold spell, especially these days. Just a few years ago we went 1077 days without even low temperatures reaching this cold
The high in DC today was just 21, coldest of the winter so far. Tomorrow’s high may even be lower, not even reaching 20!

This is what’s currently on the ground in Annapolis and the result of 5-6” snow, 2-3” sleet, and a decent glaze from freezing rain. This is gonna take a long time to clean up

It’s sleeting so hard in Annapolis that the ice pellets are making craters

Correlation Coefficient Cone of Disappointment shows the melt layer somewhere around 5 km altitude. It’s gonna be a long day

Always go north. It’s a lesson I supposedly learned while cashing in jackpot snows in PA 2009-2010. With a warmer climate everyone ends up with less snow in the typical battleground spots

Showed up on my RadarScope feed so apparently a CG sleet lightning strike
January 25, 2026 at 4:36 AM
You’re all still distracted by tomorrow’s imminent snow and sleet threat, which I am already bored of, while it’s time for me to focus on the following week’s 100% chance Armageddon Blizzard

DSCOVR sits in the L1 orbit about 1 million miles from Earth and it apparently just got hit with the most severe Earth-directed solar storm in decades
G4/G5 storming is on the table today. Bt has peaked at 91 nT on the 1s DSCOVR mag data. Extremely impressive shock.

This is shaping up for the Eagles to have the ball in their hands for a playoff game winning drive, the exact situation we've been dreading all season.
