You do your BEST work

In the shower,
While vacuuming,
Driving in rush hour traffic,
Doing dishes,
Just before you fall asleep.

You must be a writer.

Less worrying and waiting.

More wondering and wandering.

What if she remembers the accident, her paralysis, and her dead mother for the first time again?

She didn't know about the accident.
She didn't know about her paralysis.
She didn't even know about her dead mother.

But what if they told her?

I was stopped by a coworker today who said she's reading my memoir to her mom and sister-- she's practicing because she wants to be an audiobook narrator.

And if that wasn't enough, she said that her mom bawled her eyes out on the very first chapter. 🥲🙏❤️

Once upon a time, I wrote my memoir over the span of many years and on accident at first. Self-publishing it quite on purpose, I became swept away by a magical land of picture books and conquered a trad deal based on that book that started it all.

Coming this spring. 🥰🙏

If we could all just use that energy we spend worrying about our writing and just write, then we'd all be

unstoppable.

Your favorite book started out as that one story someone just couldn't get out of their own head. 🫶

New year. Now readers. 🙏👇

My best advice as a writer: Allow 3 min to fantasize your work--the full requests, the contracts signed, the final "The End"s, the late-night readers--every day.

I can't say it works, but it sure feels good to allow yourself that blip of positivity in an often dreary industry.🫶

I'm not one for resolutions.

I AM for each day holding the opportunity to refresh and reset. For new beginnings, an inspiration for change, a zest to be your best self.

We all deserve to have this feeling every day of the year, friends.

Happy NY to you and yours❤️

I was just talking with 2 moms who were raving about this local bookstore where I just so happen to have had a book signing at a couple weeks back.

But do you think I told these moms??

The last year I have been so focused on my adult novel...

The blood,
the sweat,
the anxiety.
The edits,
the rejections,
the heartache.

...and then all of the sudden I wrote 6 picture books. 😮‍💨💃

To a writer, this might just be the next best thing to a Christmas miracle...
December 16, 2025 at 5:09 AM
It's the week before Christmas and all through the house...

I've got 3 self-imposed sub deadlines, last-minute shopping, a newsletter, holiday swim, practice refinishing our laundry room floor, homemade ornaments, a PB critique, and teacher gifts to finish!

Tell me yours!

I have a book signing this afternoon, but in typical form I'm cramming it all in and our fam is off to the mountains to cut down our Christmas tree first!

The best thing
is when
I feel down about my writing,
but then open
a manuscript anyway
only to fall in love
with it
all over again.

You know what I mean🫶💪
