There is also preaching that has no relevance whatsoever for the hearer’s political ideas & posture.

The events of 66-70 A.D. (the Temple’s destruction) cast an enormous shadow that looms over the story Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John are telling. We cannot overestimate how significant this historical moment is for understanding Jesus’ life & teaching. It is the NT equivalent of Babylon in Jeremiah.

The events of 66-70 A.D. (the Temple’s destruction) cast an enormous shadow that looms over the story Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John are telling. We cannot overestimate how significant this historical moment is for understanding Jesus’ life & teaching. It is the NT equivalent of Babylon in Jeremiah.
If I ever become one of those people who carries around (and publicly drinks out of) a GALLON-SIZED jug of water, someone please pull me aside and have a conversation with me.
