This account is alas proving to be just a bit more work than I want it put into my flag collection right now. So I'm gonna stop posting for a bit. No idea for how long to be honest, but I do plan to come back at some point. Just need life to slow down a bit.

The VA flag is far from my fave, but this redesign slaps. Courtesy of a fellow member of @flagged4content.bsky.social's discord.

Next question is when will @flagsforgood.com offer it for sale?

Today's flag is the Starry Plough flag. A flag used historically by Irish Revolutionaries, especially with left wing politics. It is still used by left-leaning Irish groups, including the Labour Party, various socialist orgs, the IRA, and Celtic FC fans. It's our choice for St Patrick's Day.

Today's flag is the flag of Montgomery County, MD. Based on the coat of arms of the Montgomery family, it is unusual in US flags that it was designed by the British College of Arms. This is the second flag of the county, and the better design.

Today's flag is the flag of Christmas Island, an external territory of Australia located close to Java. The bird in the upper fly is a type of golden bosun bird, and the shape in the middle is the island itself. We thought it was very topical for the current Christmas season.

Today's flag is. Well franking awful. Because UVA sucks. But I have a bet to pay off.

Happy @flagged4content.bsky.social?

Count down to everyone asking what the NYPD flag is becuase of the parade. A fine vexillological Thanksgiving tradition.

Today's flag is the Scillonian Cross. It's the flag of the Isles of Scilly. A small group of islands off the SW coast of Cornwall and part of the UK. The orange is for their sunsets, the blue the sea, and the stars represent the islands in the group. An attractive flag it was adopted in 2002.

RVP's first repeat flag to celebrate Halloween! A flag of Derry in Northern Ireland based on the city's coat of arms.

Because of some good flag buddies on the @flagged4content.bsky.social discord I was able to identify this random flag I saw today. Sorry for the shitty pice, but it's a old version of the Portuguese municipality Anadia. But not the current one. It's from before they were elevated to a city. Crazy.

Today's flag is a proposed Virginia state flag from Alex Avendaño. Flags for Good produces it as part of their "better state flags" line. The crown and sword are a reference to the state seal, with the white V being reference to the state name. Certainly an improvement over the existing SOB.

Tragedy struck yesterday, and we came home from dinner to see this. I think that just sinking much longer woods screws in will solve it, but it may be a min before that happens. Lots going on in the RVP household at the moment.

Today's flag is the "Star Spangled Banner". It is the 15 star and stripe US flag the Francis Scott Key would have seen when he wrote the national anthem in 1814. It's commonly seen in the area around Fort McHenry as homage to FSK. It's our choice for Memorial day. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Let's do another tier list, cuz why not. This time of Maryland county(and county equivalent) flags.

Flag tier list? Flag tier list. Specifically of the @flagsforgood.bsky.social "Better State Flags" collection.

Today's flag is the flag of Baltimore County, Maryland. The influence for the MD state flag is obvious. When adopted in the 60's the design was ridiculed as "miserable... a monstrosity" and "too Communistic". We think it's a fine design, and apt for the end of our house move related absence.

So I did a thing with @flagged4content.bsky.social. You should def give it a listen!

Today's flag is the new flag of Minnesota. The shape on the hoist references the shape of the state, and the star is the north star. The process was contentions in the vexi groups, and result underwhelming. Better then the old one, but not great.

Ran across this photo of the new MN flag flying for real. And gotta be honest it makes me like it less. Better on the screen than the pole I think.

Still better than the old flag though.

Today's flag is the flag of Y Wladfa which is a group of Welsh settlements in southern Argentina. An obvious combination of the Welsh and Argentine national flags, there are several versions that can be found with different dragons and blues.
December 23, 2023 at 1:50 PM
The new Minnesota flag isn't my favorite design they considered, but I think it's a solid improvement over the old one. Already got one on pre-order to add to the collection.

Today's flag is the flag of Wales or Baner Cymru or Y Ddraig Goch in Welsh. The red dragon symbolizes the Celtic forbearers of the Welsh and a story of it battling a white dragon representing the Anglo-Saxons(now English), and defeating them.

The North Star flag being out of the running in MN is a huge bummer. The remaining options only have 2 designs I would compare favorably to that established option.

Today's flag is the original flag for the village of New Maryland in New Brunswick. Named for a group of loyalists from MD who settled there after the revolutionary war, their crest and flag draw inspiration from the MD flag. This is the original flag, since replace by a "seal on a bedsheet" design.
