I wanted to be a superhero who fights for justice and saves the world from evil forces, but it didn't work out, so I had to settle for being an SEO.
The Stranger was a very unsettling read. You know you’re fucked when the protagonist(?) starts making sense in some way.

You ever just be standing in an elevator thinking 'what if the cable snaps right now'

no?

well I did and it turned into this whole thing about control and chaos

I Survived an Elevator Ride
I was standing in an elevator about twenty minutes ago listening to the Black Eyed Peas. 22nd floor going down. And I had this thought: what if this thing just… stops working? What if right now, mi…

Something interesting is happening at the IETF, far from the usual AI headlines.

A new working group is exploring standardized signals that let publishers say how their content can be used by AI systems.

Subtle work, but worth paying attention to.

The IETF Is Quietly Working on AI Content Preferences, and It’s More Subtle Than It Sounds
I’ve started tracking the IETF’s work on AI content preferences recently, and I’m honestly surprised it hasn’t drawn more attention. Amid the noise of regulation proposals and courtroom battles, th…

Ever notice how smokers disappear in pairs and come back best friends? Meanwhile I refill my water bottle alone and return spiritually unchanged. Wrote about the quietly genius social advantage of people with lighters.

Humanity’s Most Efficient Networking Tool
I am not a smoker. This matters, because it places me permanently on the inside of buildings, staring through glass doors like a house cat while an entire parallel society flourishes just outside. …

Just wrote a LONG breakdown about the mess I walked into when I tried to understand vectors, embeddings, and how machines decide what text “means.”

If resilience were a KPI, SEOs would be outperforming every other profession.

I ran a small experiment with EmbeddingGemma to see how embeddings might apply to SEO.

It’s a simple test, but it gave me a better sense of how content might really be matched to queries by meaning, not just keywords.

Turning Content into Vectors
Back in the early days, SEO was simpler. You put your keyword in the title, repeated it in the headings and body, and it worked. Google at that point was closer to a dictionary lookup than anything…

AI isn’t hallucinating. It’s just that kid in class who didn’t study but still answers confidently.

I tried to break down the recent OpenAI paper "Why Language Models Hallucinate" in plain-ish language here:

Why AI Makes Things Up
I recently came across a paper called Why Language Models Hallucinate by Adam Tauman Kalai, Ofir Nachum, Santosh Vempala, and Edwin Zhang. I wanted to write down what I understood from it in simple…

Remember how Arsenal used to rave about the "English Core" back in 2013-14? It is a norm nowadays. In fact, Arsenal got arguably the best set of English talents out of all of the PL clubs.

I do this weird thing to escape.

I open Google Maps. I zoom out. I pick a country at random. Then I click somewhere, anywhere. If Street View shows up, I drop in. I let the Google car move a few metres at a time. I look around. I breathe. It makes me feel calm.

"What's your career path?"

Data entry → E-commerce → Writing → SEO.

"That makes no sense."

It didn't. For years.

Until suddenly it did.

Every detour was actually directions.

I Studied Coding, Became a Writer, and Ended Up in SEO (It Makes Sense, I Promise)
