Hello! I’m Ruru (my beloved nickname from my MMORPG days), and I am on a nerd-tastic mission to make nostalgic cross stitch collages of my favorite games across the decades. Etsy has glorious pattern creators that I was all too happy to support. Human art is best art! 🥳
My completed cross stitch of the map from the 1993 Super Nintendo game Star Fox. Fox is in the top left corner in his cockpit with the word MAP, along with three different paths you could choose to venture through to reach the end game bad guy planet of Venom. Four planets and eight quadrants of space are depicted and named to travel along. My completed project of the original 151 Pokémon in numerical order - but also in “derpy” design, making them extra cute in their simplification and basic colors. My completed project of the iconic campfire scene from the 1995 Super Nintendo game Chrono Trigger, where the main characters (as well as the eventual end boss) are sitting around a campfire in the midst of a dark forest together My completed project of an arcade style cross stitch called “Life is a Game,” where each letter of the phrase is shaped in a different iconic game from the original games of the 80’s, from Super Mario Bros to Tetris, Frogger, Asteriod, Pac Man and Zelda

Progress has been slower with pain going on and off in my right hand, so I’m taking it easy for it to not get too aggravated. Darn all my hobbies involving the hands! 🤣 But the pillars are looking great against the black backdrop, can’t wait to bring Garland in 🥳 #FinalFantasy #crossstitch

Took a tedious little minute to get the completed boxes filled in, but finally got to move on to the background for Garland’s boss box. My wonderfully crafty daughter actually had good felt on hand so I could scoot the fabric over far enough. Not much more to go! #FinalFantasy #crossstitch

I don’t know if it’s the simplistic design and colors, especially after such a complicated cross stitch of the Stardew map, but this is such a satisfying piece to make progress in. Black Aida cloth is just so beautiful to work on. Art progress is the best 🥰 #FinalFantasy #crossstitch

It begins! Look at their little selves! The only challenge with this piece is going to be spacing - I counted out the 35 spaces between the center pole and black mage a solid eight times 🤣 Love that I got to aim for the little buggers first! #finalfantasy #crossstitch

It has been completed! Very happy with the colors/spacing; tweaking things yourself is always a nervous thing, but this one worked out really well.

Next up: Final Fantasy 1! Should be a quick piece with using black Aida cloth. Finally getting some classic Nintendo rep 🥳

Home stretch! Everything is done excepting the mushrooms, which I should have done by the weekend 🥳 Had to change the flower colors to the more muted pink tones; the bright peaches it called for didn’t mix well with the deep red outline. Very happy with the turnout! #StardewValley #crossstitch

Cat and doggo have been added! I toned down the color schemes for them - a bit more realistic of a palette than the pattern called for. I’m toying with whether to have the final chick be blue like the other cross stitch; we’ll see what looks best! #StardewValley #crossstitch

Over halfway complete with quickie project #2 🥰 I’d forgotten that my friends (who this is for) recently added caring for honeybees at their mini-farm, so I doodled the addition to balance out the spacing to the sides of the text. Can’t wait to add the cat and doggo! #StardewValley #crossstitch

Man, I’ve missed small projects - quick progress is amazing! 🤣 I went online and found a free font I preferred; I’ll be modding all three cross stitches with it so they’re cohesive. Only a few letters needed some tweaks, but I love the slight hints of cursive! #StardewValley #crossstitch
