There is no #OntEd “Grade 2 Science textbook” or “Grade 5 Social Studies textbook”. Everything your child is using to learn Science/Social Studies in public school was likely created, found, or purchased by their teacher. And if they’re in French Immersion, it was also translated by their teacher.

Education is not a business.

The goal of publicly funded education is not finding the cheapest way to warehouse children while their parents work.

Public education is the great equalizer, and is an investment in our collective future.

It’s worth saving.

“With Ontario asking teachers to do more with less and blaming them for the shortfalls of underfunded schools, recruitment and retention will only become more challenging. Teachers should at least feel that parents are on their side.”

Sadly, much political discourse seems to model what we do not want to see in our classrooms and society. Cruelty and personal attacks abound.

As an educator, I have the chance to help the next generation to be kinder and more collaborative.

I take this obligation seriously.

Proactively changing a law to make yourself "un-sueable" as a reaction to a controversial infrastructure move should be a massive red flag to all citizens, regardless of your political leaning.

Clearly small gov't, accountability, and common sense are not the tenets of the Conservative Party.
