Having heard a couple Robert Palmer tunes on the #XPNCountdown I hope others remembered one of his originals I forgot: Johnny and Mary, covered by Ms. Tina Turner. I love both versions.

There are plenty of Dead songs I really like, original or covered, but I think overall they fall into a category with Lou Reed and some other artists where I prefer others' interpretations to the originals (esp. when they can actually sing) #XPNCountdown
