In a book from Iain McGilchrist, The Master and his emissary, for me a profound read and highly recommended for anyone interested in the brain, a book was cited published in 1949. Martin Foss, Symbol and Metaphor in human experience.
I cannot get my hands on that book.

I grew up in the countryside, had a wonderful childhood.
I was independent and spent so much time of my summer holidays without adults.
Just a few decades later, this is no longer possible - even in rural areas.
It is NOT good for Germany to make people dependent on cars. But that has happened.
