@pjtheeconomist.bsky.social Thank you for an excellent article in today's (20th September 2025) edition of the FT. A long-term overhaul and simplification of the UK's tax system is badly needed. #Reeves' kite flying of possible actions is both unprofessional and dangerous, isn't it?

There is a good article in the #Observer dated 14/9/25 by #Malloch-Brown saying that the UN needs to get back in the ring and fight for what it believes in. That is fair comment, isn't it?

No, which is why I think we agreed to this bullshit deal. How I see this going is: Trump has fun saying how easy it was to get us, we carry on living as we always have, perhaps with a little more inflation, and then, as always, Trump caves and the deal falls through because of some TV bs.

observer.co.uk/news/politic... The article is worth reading but it is a whitewash. #Starmer needs to find his ideology and push for those things he knows are right.

I have just cancelled my subscription to the #SundayTimes. It used to be centrist, but has shifted right and populist. Did you see Rod Liddle's article about #Trump on 15th December? Are you appalled at the shift in editorial policy?

#RachelReeves was wrong to back off taxing #PrivateEquity companies to the fullest extent possible. Private Equity companies are not agents of Schumpeter's "Creative Destruction". They just destroy!

@jessphillipsmp.bsky.social what do you think about "freebies"? Shouldn't "freebies" be severely limited? Should Yvette Cooper have accepted tickets to Taylor Swift's concert?

Shein. Do we really need Shein in the UK? There is far too much disposable consumerism, isn't there? "Fast Fashion" has reached the heart of the Labour Party through the influence of Lord Alli, hasn't it?
