Future military decision-making will hinge on AI at all levels. Some of this already exists as a system that is currently integrated. My favorite being CDAS. It is important to separate hype from actual capability.

The only way out for the US is to either automate menial tasks (sequencing or flight following) which will require astronomical dollar. or they can hire more people for these tiny ass airports.

No way to make these people happy, you can bring humans out of the targeting process and let a robot do it because humans are fallible. but then they complain that the robot is too bloodthirsty and lacks nuance.
The real risk of so-called "AI". Instead of human beings who may feel guilt or can be accountable in planning lethal operations, the blame can be shifted to a computer and the humans pawn their guilt to the machine, and everyone can claim some emotional distance
