All of the character design drawings from the previous three posts are lined up in front of a white background. These look a little different from the original posts, that's because the originals were screenshots I took with the Snip & Sketch tool on my canvas in Clip Studio. These images have been resized and sharpened to a higher resolution than originally drawn, and properly exported from Clip Studio. Just a filter edit I did for fun that I thought looked cool. If you'd like to know how to do it, in Clip Studio Paint PRO EX 4.0, go to: Filter>Effect>Pencil Drawing. Not sure if you can do it in earlier versions or not, but I'm pretty sure the filter is in 3.0 at the least.

So, it's like 3AM, but I still want to share this. This is, if you'd believe it, a redesign of another character I have from years ago. I ended up doing a picture with the original design, and then the updated design. Of course, more context is in the alt text.

A woman poses wearing an 18th-century inspired outfit. She sheaths a copper sword to her left leg, and has gloves hanging off to the side. I'm pretty satisfied with this one, though a lot of the design was actually a last minute addition, like the sword, sheath, gloves, and loose cuffs of the shirt. The clothing choice is partly inspired by Minecraft's setting, since this character is a companion to one whose design is based in that setting. Minecraft, unlike a lot of fantasy I've encountered, is actually pretty ambiguous with the era-specific aesthetics within its world, so designing costumes that fit into it is a surprisingly forgiving process. I've drawn on references from the 8th century to the 19th, though once you reach the 20th century, fashion moves much faster, and stuff starts looking too "modern" to fit into the game. An upper-torso shot of a woman wearing a red collared-shirt with a quartet of buttons below the chest. This was a test drawing to see how I could re-interpret the old design. I darkened the eyes from an emerald green to a darker shade, I shifted the hue of the hair from a light ginger to a dirty blonde, and I altered the head shape to be more rounded. In the final drawing, the shade of the skin was very slightly lightened, but this art does not have that change. I wanted to keep the red though, so I gave her a red shirt in a style I saw in some photos from the 1930's. It made her look like an office lady moreso than an explorer. I'm sure some of you would like that, but it wasn't my intention, so her clothes were changed for the full drawing. A woman is mid-fall with her arms raised and her hair waving upward in the air. She's wearing dark colored pants, boots, and has cloth tied around her chest. This is a drawing I almost ended up scrapping. It started off as some pose practice from a reference, but I ended up polishing it up and made it into this! The design here is actually based off the original one for this girl. The costume is inspired by a classmate I helped get into costume at my college. It's a lot more skin than I typically show on my female characters, and I even had help with drawing the stomach area because I wasn't the most familiar, but I guess I'll let the less modest clothing slide. I'm not as much of a prude anymore, the people I draw don't have to worry about getting dress-coded at school or anything. They're allowed to show their shoulders and midriffs. Also, unrelated aside, but I actually finished this after the test drawing, but before the finished piece, hence why this is dated the 8th and the other one the 9th. Being scatterbrained is weird. Two young adults stand next to each other in simple clothes. A sketch of the original image is in the upper left corner. Both the sketch and the rendered drawing are dated May 21st, 2024, roughly a year and a half ago as of posting this. This is the character with her initial design. As you can see, the design is quite simple. The guy is here too, but I drew him much more often, so he got the privilege of glowing up over time instead of just right now like the girl. To tell you the truth, I've only recently started to figure out where I'm going with female designs fairly recently. I've always drawn many more male characters, so more masculine traits like thick limbs, masculine musculature, angular shapes, and thicker eyebrows have been sort of baked into my style, and it's taken a great deal of effort and help to un-learn a lot of it. As an aside, she ended up resembling Alex from Minecraft by accident. Her counterpart's design is based off a Minecraft skin, so I guess it came naturally, but I still want to avoid her being mistaken for Alex.

I drew him. Uh, the Minecraft avatar guy again. I like drawing characters like him with a satchel or pouch mainly because I think it looks cool, but also because it's weird you can carry so much stuff in Minecraft without a bag or something. Do the bundles count? #art #digitalart

Both drawings of the characters are here, next to each other. A very easy effect to accomplish since both were drawn on the same canvas in CSP. Are they in a relationship together? No. But I once jokingly told an acquaintance that the one on the right was gay and that somehow made him crash the heck out. I still don't know WHAT that was all about.

I tried my hand at doing character/costume design with aid from another artist friend of mine on some aspects. I don't draw women too terribly often, so I'm happy I got one that looks decent. like always, additional detail will be in the alt text.

A woman wearing a blue tunic, dark pants, and brown gloves/boots. She also has a large bag slung around her waist. This is a design I'm very happy with in spite of me still being a novice in actual design. It was partly inspired by my Minecraft skin drawings, since I wanted to do more of that sort of costume design. I based the outfit off a mixture of medieval garbs and tunics, the primary ones being Scandinavian. I used a reference for the hair, and tried a less angular head shape, and different style eyes for this character. Was also helped with anatomy slightly with this one, specifically with the arms. Very happy with this result, and I hope to draw her some more in the future. I also plan to revisit a couple other designs in this manner very soon.

Just gonna post this real quick before I share something I'm really happy with. Forgot to share it on the big day itself. Of course, alt text will be there for extra detail. (Also, the character is based off my Minecraft skin. I don't recall ever sharing him here, but I've drawn him for years.)

This is my current Minecraft skin, the guy in the post is based off my Minecraft skins from over the years. yes, I'm not mixing up the order of origin. I made the skins came first, then I drew the character based off them.

So it's been about 37,440 quick minutes since my last post, and you know what, since I haven't yet forgotten that this site exists, I'll share some more assorted work from the past month or so. Like before, alt text will have extra details on the drawings.
An image of a young man showing off his muscles. This was done as an anatomy study. Fun fact, this study was inspired by, of all things, a meme with a cat furry posing next to Jeffery Epstein. It was posted in a discord server I'm in, and (aside from the obvious) I was weirded out by the odd torso anatomy the cat dude had; I opted to redraw the pose to figure out why the anatomy looked off to me, and later on, I refined it into this. To the one person wondering, it was because the arms were too far forward on the torso in that drawing. A white man wearing a suit, tie, and dress shoes. Nothing too unique to say about this guy. It was just me relearning that basic changes like elongating the face and nose, and using a different eye style are pretty good first steps toward making a more distinct character from the rest of your roster. In the file name, he is named "Mr. Reed." I don't know why I named him that, he just sort of looks like he'd have that name. A guy wearing a Santa costume sneaking across a partly lit living room. This is my obligatory Celebratory Christmas drawing for this year, characterized by me procrastinating on working on it until 11PM on Christmas Eve (I date drawings on when I finish them usually). I actually love how the lighting came out on this one. If I would change one thing, it'd be to add shadows for the character and bag on the ground, but I concur it'd be nigh-on invisible anyway. If you're wondering, I actually had a pretty good Christmas this year. Got some games and books I wanted, along with a new pair of headphones. Also had the most houseguests we've had for a while. Some drawings of a teenage boy with long dark hair and medium skin. This is Noah, a character I've had bouncing around in my head for a while, but have hardly drawn. I had been wanting to make a Native character for quite a while, since I've met many over the years, and they're pretty chill. These drawings were mostly me trying to hash out how I wanted to draw his hair; he is Native American, so straight, dark hair was a natural choice, but I'd never drawn proper straight hair before, so I had to look up references and such for it. But hey, he's the sort of person to be open to styling it, so I don't have to treat it as gospel.

Been a quick minute since I was last here. I've drawn a ton over the past couple months, but I doubt I could fit it all here, so I'll share a few miscellaneous ones that I like. I've included some Alt Text on each of them if you're curious about the individual drawings.
One of my characters in a Halloween costume. This was meant to be finished on Halloween, but I ended up finishing it late. The costume is of a Union General, if you're curious. My favorite part is by far the boot and gold shading. Just looks so satisfying against a black background. A commemorative art piece of Poland's national personification, "Polonia", done as a gift for some Polish acquaintances. The outfit is based off a 1915 poster depicting the character. I opted to deviate from my style for this one. My usual cartoony eyes didn't sit right with me for this one. Some random doodles I drew while talking to some friends about Hollowknight last month. The lightbulb one is an inside joke. Also, random fact, the upper drawing was made first, so the lighting effect was entirely incidental. A drawing of a woman in baggy pants, done as one of three request drawings. One audience member helped me with foot anatomy, hence this rare instance of a character I drew being barefoot.

Made this doodle of classic Sonic earlier this year. I've always been a huge fan of Sonic's classic design, and enjoy drawing it even if I'm not the best at it. Might try and take a shot at it again sometime soon if I feel like it.
