🪶Pied-billed Grebe - I’m seriously not sure there is a cuter bird in all of the bird kingdom. And these guys are fierce tiny fish hunters. Cuddles anyone?

Paddle-tailed Darner - we believe this to be the species, waiting for confirmation. If so it will be our first sighting which is exciting. Lucky to have it hover in place, they never perch!

🪶Ladder-backed Woodpecker - from my trip to AZ a few months ago. We don’t get these here in the PNW so this was a real treat! They are non-migratory, permanent residents of the US southwest and Mexico.

In one week, I say goodbye to Rwanda and relocate to Tanzania. After 4½ unforgettable years, I’m reflecting on the wildlife that made this chapter so special. I’ll be sharing some of my favourite images in the days ahead.

In just one week, my family and I will be leaving Rwanda as we prepare to relocate to Tanzania. It’s been an incredible 4½ years — a time filled with meaningful experiences, inspiring people, and unforgettable encounters with Rwanda’s extraordinary wildlife. As we prepare to say goodbye, I’ll be sharing a selection of my favourite wildlife photographs captured during our time here. These images reflect not only the natural beauty of Rwanda but also the deep appreciation I’ve developed for its landscapes and biodiversity. 🪶White-faced Ibis - got these shots down in Cottonwood, AZ a couple of months ago. A flock flew in and circled probably 30 times before finally deciding to land. Lots of chances to snap photos! Cool birds!
