In Super Mario 64, Koopa the Quick has a subtle "don't waste the player's time" mechanic. If Mario is too far ahead or has already finished, Koopa the Quick will hurry up and finish up to 30 seconds faster just to not make the player wait too long at the goal.

lowkey i hope the next Mario & Luigi game on Switch is just a port of Dream Team. it’s such a good game, the art style is immaculate, and i think there’s enough flaws to justify a port that irons those out. plus no touch controls

I have a lot of respect for the Knives Out movies just as an exercise in people making solid B+ level entertainment where everyone seems to be enjoying the experience without it needing it to win Oscar’s or make 3 billion dollars. It’s like going to a good steakhouse.
