Hey, I've been working silently for a while but I've done a lot of stuff.

I mainly implemented the models in the game and added and changed some gameplay UI.

I will go in detail about the UI and stuff on my next devlog (next week's friday on YouTube)

Here is some gameplay:

My 3D modelling spree is finally over 🥳

I've made 30+ models with textures for the products(40+) on my factory game

They are only on blender for now but as soon as export them and set them up on unity I will share some more progress

I've been separating the human into smaller parts for the factory game

I went with somewhat realistic human anatomy, but with way less detail and accuracy, that way it's recognizable and not really gore

(I've been staring at bone pics for hours)

I scrapped my previous model

To save time and have better base topology I got one from cgtrader, I modified it and textured it and it looks waaay better

probably will make it chunkier so it's easier to see in game, but that's for later

So, in my factory game you will create humans starting from cells

I am currently making the model for the full human separated by parts

I still have to experiment with proportions and probably change his whole head (kinda creepy atm)

I wanted to post this yesterday but I forgor 💀

I added the missing details on the machines for the factory game + made a script to seamlessly connect conveyor belts. it works with the machines too.

Back to unity:

After over a week of modelling and texturing I have finished and exported the models to unity

There are some details that I still have to work on and the emissions and bloom are a bit too high atm, but it is progress :)

I Found The Style:

I tried a bunch of styles and color palettes and I finally found the style

I've been texturing the models for the factory game and I have finished 4/8, it's taking way longer than expected, but they look cool imo

Texturing progress:

I still suck, but I have a better understanding of how it works

I've been trying colors, materials and designs for the machines, so far this is what I have, probably will re-make it with other style now that I know a little more

I suck at texturing:

I've modeled the machines for my factory game, and they are decent, but lack detail. I wanted to add it by using textures

I swear I've been trying for hours to do something decent, but it's not looking good, hopefully I'll have them textured by next update

Hear me out:

I drew 3 designs for each machine on my factory game

If you are wondering why they look weird is because instead of manufacturing generic products you will be making humans

I will pick one design for each machine and pass it to 3D #indiegame #gamedev #IndieGameDev

V0.1:
The fundamental functionality for the factory game is done

I've been bug fixing and adding more stuff but the last thing I finished was separating edit mode into two modes, move and delete

Now moving machines is easier and you can also delete multiple machines at once

Operator Mode:
I just finished making a new mode, like build or edit mode in which you will see what is inside your machines

In the case of the assemblers you can also see and assign the product you want to assemble + see the components you need to make it

Assembling Machines:

These are the last basic machines I am introducing(assemblers).

They combine your products into more complex ones allowing for more complex factories

They work with a "recipe" that you will pick depending on what you want to build.

Processing:
New machines(processors) transform the product into a refined version of it, represented by the color change

I also fixed the edit mode UI to the screen, instead of world space because it covered the selection of other machines

+ products move instead of teleport

Hey, I have been working on a video about a small challenge I made with my youtube community. I just released it so check it out 😁

Currency:
I just made a new machine(Seller) that allows you to turn your products into currency

There is nothing to do with it yet, but it's important to have the currency and the machine now since they are fundamental for your factory

Slow progress, but progress: The new machines(conveyors and generators) can be interacted with on the edit mode now, so you can correct your factory building mistakes + the machine will keep whatever it had inside before the movement. #indiegame #gamedev #unity3d #IndieGameDev

Some more progress on the factory game: Now the generator machines actually generate something and it will be moved by the conveyor belts. Probably I will do some kind of smoothing for the movement instead of teleportation. #indiegame #gamedev #unity3d #IndieGameDev

I've been working on a new project for a factory game for roughly a week now, since I'll be working on this for some months, I will be posting updates here of whatever I think is worth sharing.
