People are flocking to Bluesky so here's an attempt to connect people interested in #Cumbrian #History (not many visible currently) and the landscape and culture of #Cumbria and the #LakeDistrict. Let me know who I've missed, or if you want to be removed (if I can work out how!).

#ICYMI - we are celebrating the publication of our 250th #BigRedBook, and our first publication for the historic county of #Westmorland.

In September we had an event to mark this and to place the volume in the context of the series and to showcase the extraordinary work behind it. #Skystorians

In the end, we didn't think we could make that definitive extrapolation, but it's clear that Eunice Foote showed evidence for the warming effect of atmospheric CO2...in 1856!

Hmm. Meta has apparently stolen lots of my stuff too. But I do wonder what it made of my well-known publication 'The binding of 2,4,6-trinitrophenyl derivatives to the mouse myeloma protein MOPC 315'.
Discovered Meta have used pirate copies of (at least) 4 of my books and 3 articles in order to train its AI. I’m glad they got good content on secularism and humanism ☺️ but of course this does raise ethical issues! You can check what they have used of yours here: www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...

For some reason I missed this, but it's a lovely obituary of a wonderful person, with whom I was privileged to work over many years.
By the way if you aren’t familiar with Simon Burall and his pioneering work on public engagement and deliberative democracy this obituary by @tom-clark.bsky.social is a good place to start
