Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

Surveillance as a service.

I'm only surprised China's using a hedge company. It's been doing this openly, and flying African officials to China for training in surveillance-related public policy for over a decade.
Through a shell company called Geedge, China is selling its Great Firewall censorship tools to a variety of totalitarian regimes around the world, namely Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Myanmar, and another unidentified country.

Meanwhile, the small sandwich shop I'm at in the UK is begging people to pay cash because their card fees were GBP320 last month.

Allowing card processors to collect rent when better alternatives exist is a policy choice and a political failure.
Pix is the same. Safe, costless, accepted by everyone, easy to use, even embedded in banking apps (as banks were required to do).

With a large territory and millions of informal businesses, Brazil early on turned into a fintech powerhouse.

Nobody uses WhatsApp Pay. It's 💩 compared to Pix.
