In the 1960's, Colorado mandated that all chickens wear Stetson hats and ties. This was believed to improve the texture of the chicken meat and provide a more dignified, Christian flavor. This law was repealed during the great Stetson hat shortage of 1972.

In the late 1960's Australian scientists bred gigantic platypuses in Tasmania, primarily for their meat. Unfortunately, some of the platypuses escaped, killing many of the nearby residents in what came to be known as the "Platypus Massacre of 1969" and the experiment was shut down shortly after.

Today is the 30th anniversary of vultures flying off with my cousin Stewart. Stewart liked playing with decaying animal carcasses and his parents frequently warned him that it could entice vultures to carry him away. Let this be a lesson for all kids to listen to their parents.
