And so to another app. Okay let’s do this.

I’m the Deputy Head of Social over at @metrouk.bsky.social.

If you love all things social media, love the buzz of a newsroom, and don’t mind chat about movies, come say hi 👋
I am off to a gig tonight. I’m seeing The Offspring.

It’s just occurred to me that I’m wearing the same jacket I’ve worn to the last three shows I’ve been to

It’s giving…

This entire advert collapses when you realise John Lewis don’t actually sell vinyl records
They've chosen a bangin' tune for this year's John Lewis Christmas Ad.

Sam Rivers death has really hit me.

He was one of my inspirations for first picking up a bass guitar.

Bass players in nu-metal don’t often get the recognition they deserve but if you listen to the intro on tracks like Re-Arranged and Take a Look Around, you’ll get it. RIP to a legend

I saw #TheSmashingMachine tonight and was compelled to get my thoughts down as quickly as possible, so here they are on Letterboxd boxd.it/bhiU5j
A ★★★★ review of The Smashing Machine (2025)
Dwayne Johnson rightly deserves all the plaudits he’s getting for this career-defining performance.  However, this film has no plot. Kerr was fighting until 2009 but we’re given just  a small three-ye...

Going to Portugal soon. Have just bought six train tickets for three separate journeys for when we’re out there and it’s cost just £45

A regular reminder that we’re ripped off for train travel in the UK

I think we need to talk about Cooper Hoffman in #TheLongWalk. What a powerhouse performance that was. And his character’s monologue about losing his father is especially poignant knowing he’s had to deal with that very same grief

I bought myself a yellow rain coat this week. It’s giving big Dennis Nedry vibes, and I’m good with that

Seeing photos of Ted Lasso filming again is REALLY making me miss living in Richmond, so let’s talk about the time I went for a walk and saw them shooting season 3 just minutes from my front door

I went in to Eddington thinking we were getting a Coen-esque, dark comedy about escalating tensions between a small town’s sheriff and mayor over Covid-19 precautions that would have shades of No Country for Old Men and Burn After Reading

What we got in fact was one of the best films of the year

I saw #FantasticFour tonight and while I’m still digesting it, my first takeaway is that it reminded me of both Ghostbusters 1 and 2. Giant tramples around New York. Evil being sees a newborn baby as the future of their existence

Stop what you’re doing and look at this hot chocolate I hate yesterday. Seriously, look at it. Drink it in.

I’m confident when I say I reckon I’ll be the only person at the Alexisonfire gig at the Brixton Academy tonight who climbed Snowdon yesterday and drove all the way home from Colwyn Bay today

Are we all agreement that if Samsung, Apple, Google etc started providing earphones with new phones again the epidemic of people playing music aloud would end immediately?

Saw The F1 movie last night.

The very fact it makes you care about tactics, airflow, dirty air and race strategy is a seriously impressive feat.

I’ve just finished my rewatch of 28 Weeks Later and it annoys me that I never noticed this before but the film features, quite prominently, the new Wembley Stadium… which opened in 2007. Now, in this universe, the world theoretically ended in 2002. THAT STADIUM SHOULDN’T EXIST
June 24, 2025 at 7:02 PM
I’m going to see 28 Years Later tomorrow night (because it seems literally everyone in the world has already seen it) so I’m rewatching 28 Days Later right now and will take on 28 Weeks Later tomorrow morning

So I know I said The Salt Path is one of the best British films for quite a while, and I stand by that, but The Ballad of Wallis Island can now join that list

A remarkable, brilliantly-written, funny, emotional film with wonderful performances all round. It will make my Top Ten of 2025

I catch The Salt Path with my wife at the weekend.

I will happily say it’s one of the best British films in some time. It covers some heavy topics, but it’s genuinely feel-good and Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs are wonderful. And now I can’t stop thinking about coastal walks.

I’m a little concerned I haven’t been to the cinema in well over a week. I caught Final Destination and it was a return to form, but we’re getting into the busy time of the year for movies and I fear I won’t have time for them all. I still need to see Final Reckoning!

It’s NEVER been ‘Centre Parcs’. Wild
