We played Beyond the Sun, which is a favourite of mine. This was a really weird session, with loads of automation and no blue technologies. By the end of the game, which took a fair bit longer than normal, all players had maxed out their automation tracks.

Alexandros is a fantastic old-school game. All players decide how Alexander moves around the region, dividing it into regions as he moves. And then we fight for control of those regions.

One of the players asked to buy my copy when we finished!

I taught The King is Dead to two new players yesterday. Fun all around - the French invaded!

I've so much respect for how much this game does with so few rules.

My TTRPG chat group does not appreciate how much time I, a busy professional grownup, spend finding the perfect reaction gifs for their bullshit.

TIBERPUNK
1) The system that tracks illegal activity (which is most stuff players do) causes these police drones to spawn and get more powerful. There is a viable way to play where you ignore missions, but spec your character to be a drone fighter!

2) There is a prelaunch page!
Coming soon: Tiberpunk: Streets of Rome
A strategy board game for 2–4 players, set in cyberpunk Rome. Plan your moves and take risks through missions and intense encounters.

A preview of one of my upcoming games (codesigned with @chrisbacke.bsky.social and published by idVenture). In Tiberpunk, be a hacker, or a bounty hunter, or a revolutionary; stay hidden from the law, or burn bright! All in about an hour!

I've taught a good number of game design workshops, and one of the activities I often set is for students to take a game they didn't like and fix it. (This is how I designed Letterpress)

Well, I recently saw an upcoming game which I think does this, but based on one of my own games. Ouch - karma!

An oldie but a goodie - had a blast playing the imaginatively named Trains.

Saw an amazing little exhibition at the new Petri archaeology museum in Berlin - "degenerate" art confiscated by the Nazis and excavated in 2010 during construction of a metro station.

I spent my night cutting, folding, and packing my first 20 sets of Heavenly Bodies!! 🪐✨ the card game I’ll have for sale at Indie Games Night Market during Pax Unplugged this year!

After this, I’ll only have 30 more sets to go!!

Had an interesting conversation today about "fiddly" games. A valid point that A Feast for Odin, despite being a huge game with hundreds of pieces, isn't fiddly. Pieces are placed and stay where they are - that significantly reduces cognitive load and fiddliness.

Reach out to creators and tell them you like their stuff! Sometimes it can feel like you spend time making something and it just vanishes into the void...
OMG - Just got my 1st email from someone who has actually been playing De Agricultura I (as opposed to the not even prototyped yet De Agricultura II) w/ their game group online. Made my freakin' week! The idea that some interested history gamers could voluntarily play 1 of my protos -- so neat! 1/

I’m going to start collecting my prototype files here for interested people to see. Some are useful in class already, others not yet, etc. Please, please, please give me constructive feedback…
