A new desk!

Last month I submitted my PhD thesis, ending 5 amazing years working with @spoel-lab.bsky.social in plant immunity.

This week I start my first postdoc with @drannisr.bsky.social, I'm looking forward to delving into the details of maize leaf patterning!

Earlier this year I had the amazing opportunity to run a workshop at Edinburgh Science Festival about plant stress with scientists from @instmolplantsci.bsky.social

If you want to learn more about workshop design and delivery I wrote a blog post about my experience!

How does immunisation establish durable disease resistance in plants?
Mobile immune signals released upon immunisation boost effectiveness of the defence hormone salicylic acid by ten times!😲 This results in higher immune gene expression and systemic acquired resistance against infection.
Mobile immune signals potentiate salicylic acid-mediated plant immunity via WRKY38/62 transcription factors https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.04.17.649115v1
