Today is the day of my poetry chapbook release of "Aphasia." I'm very psyched! I'm so grateful to @inkfishmagazine.bsky.social

I'd be really honored if you picked up a copy of "Aphasia."

I've probably read this poem 100 times, but when the world seems particularly gone to hell, it still brings me to tears.

6 months ago I did a release reading for my chapbook, Big Blue Hospital. Also reading was @kentomaro.bsky.social , @lasarafirefoxallen.bsky.social , and Tim Moder. The reading is less than 20 minutes. Content warning for just a bit of sexual language, not for kids or work.

Poets are getting to know each other on bsky, so how hardcore are you? Do you read more than an hour's worth of poetry daily? Do you write daily when you can? Do you have lines of poetry tattooed on your body? Do you spend food money on books?

Just trying to get to know my poet-neighbors here :)

Got some new books tonight. Rowse thought he’d found the Dark Lady of Shakespeare’s sonnets, and she was a poet. These are her poems and I can’t wait to get into them.

My spouse went out of town for 5 days, and I was like, "I'll get a lot of writing done", which quickly became, "I'll get a lot of movie watching done." When offered lazy vs craftwork sometimes lazy wins. I enjoyed the movies btw.

let's put some light in the darkness
“A poet is a nightingale who sits in the darkness, and sings”

—Shelley, in Defense of Poetry

"In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will be singing
About the dark times."

—Bertolt Brecht

I've been reading epic poems and book-length poems all year, and the year's coming to an end. Anything to recommend? Something beautifully long winded?

Thanks

Since I'm new here, I thought I'd share a poem or two today from my chapbook, Big Blue Hospital, which came out last summer with Bottlecap Press.

I hope you like this one:

Hey poets, who are you reading this weekend?

It's only been in the last year that I discovered Bolano's novels for myself, and I was excited to learn he had a book of poems.
