Legal stuff. Wind farms. Biotech. Sometimes agriculture.
"Why can't we?" Is obviously what our domestic sabre-rattlers think. Itching for a jingoistic pop at Johnny forriner wherever they can - a return to the days of empire.

They don't contemplate that the others that will do it are the sort who one day may take a pop at our friends or even us
I have spent three years researching the weakening of norms in “acceptable” interstate behaviour, and I’m sorry - however bad a foreign leader might be, dumping on your supposed values in order to “deal” with them is stupid. Others will naturally ask “if you can do this, why can’t we?”

Cinema BlueSky!
My local independent cinema is open to widening the scope of films it shows, but still needs to turn a profit for ad hoc viewings, and needs to work out how to go about it.

Does anyone have experience of putting together cinema clubs?

When my son was smaller he learnt this as his first joke. Much excitement come Christmas with the wider family when, obviously bursting with excitement to be the source of mirth he hushed the room, paused for impact, and said:

"Why has ET got short legs?"
What's E.T. short for Dick?

Skidded the car on ice (very slowly) and nearly hit Charlie Dimmock. Waved an apology.
Crossed a road in front of an angry Jeremy Beadle in his car.
Entered a service station urinal at the same time Morrisey was leaving it.

‘My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my Avatar, prepare to die’
“I’ve had it with these motherfucking Avatars on this motherfucking Avatar.”

This is of course wrong as the stalk is both edible and tasty.

However, if we now look at leeks....
The ratio of floret to stalk on supermarket broccoli is getting ridiculous. Charging by weight for that inedible bit is a massive con.

Avatar and Threads

Two things which are way off my radar but seem to have some popular traction, yet I have no idea with whom.
Looks like Avatar's got a good shot at a $2 billion total globally when all is said and done. It's arguably a more bankable franchise than the Avengers at this point.

I live in a very rural area with hunting packs (and even family who are involved in it). However, surprisingly, a lot of the local commentary is exactly along these lines - "you all took the piss and got caught".

Not so much sympathy.
Seen this go past a lot and never mind for/against, the fact is if the CA were an even half competent organisation, they would have spent the last 20 years making sure that hunts were acting within the law. This tightening/progression has happened because people consistently took the piss (1/)

Seen more of these from others. Two lessons having analysed:

I'm not in the circles of even those who scored highly in mine: Humility, but that's ok, dear funny people in my phone.

You guys post a heck of a lot more than I do: Circumspection. I'm not actually sure I can be bothered to post more.
Well, my engagement of the year roundup on this place is both interesting and yet completely expected.

Chopped fresh banana over my "luxury" muesli and was confronted with having sliced fresh banana lying next to desiccated slices of its cousins.

Having watched The Christmas Film last night, tonight we have watched Die Hard 2.

Bloody hell it's such crap. Amazed they green-lit number 3 on the back of this.

Proving to my other half that men are not useless, so am on top of Xmas day food prep already!

I need some help though BlueSky: do turkey twizzlers need defrosting the night before?

Always amazed at the games industry. There is a parallel world out there in a separate Venn diagram from me.
All these titles read like "curtains for zoosha" to me.

I'm largely amazed (jealous) anyone has the time for this.
Keeping a record of every game I’ve completed in 2025. Here we go again:

1. God Of War III - 8/10

2. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector - 9/10

3. Sniper Elite: Resistance - 7/10

4. Caravan SandWitch - 5/10

Often see this woman in Guardian articles and always intrigued that she looks like a Chris Riddell illustration character in that same paper.

Yes, but we already knew that Vickers is:
(a) an idiot, and
(b) probably one of the best that that party has.
Tory MP Matt Vickers' car crash encounter with @lewisgoodall.com on #Brexit.

LG: Do you accept you damaged the economy?
MV: No.
LG: Are you saying Brexit has been good for business?
MV: It's created opportunities.
LG: What about all the evidence?
MV: You need to come up north.

Huh? 😵‍💫 ~AA

I'm suing the BBC - just as soon as I have worked out a cause of action which won't have my legal counsel recognising an idiot client, then stinging me for a stupid amount of fees before telling me to stop wasting court time.
I’m suing the BBC because I’m a fucking loser who everybody hates.

Of course they may just have been "Remembering" the sack of Scarborough by Harald Hardrada in 1066, though to be fair this was avenged shortly after at Stamford Bridge.
The model battles started after the Great War, when Scarborough residents were understandably keen to watch tiny German battleships have the crap beaten out of them
