Our founders, though deeply flawed, understood that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a government accountable to it people. That’s why the press is the only profession protected by the Constitution. It’s also why autocrats and oligarchs seek to control and destroy it.

Bezos bought the Post in 2013. According to Marty Baron, the Exec Editor for most of the first decade of his ownership, Bezos never interfered with either news or opinion. The first known interference with what the paper printed was his spiking the Harris endorsement in 2014.
When Jeff Bezos bought WaPo, he immediately took control of the opinions section. Now, he's laying off hundreds of journalists, including those covering Amazon.

This isn’t a coincidence. It’s the result of billionaires with vested political agendas taking over our media.

In the coming days you might well hear arguments that surveillance is the answer to the tragedy of gun violence, and therefore Seattle shouldn't turn off SPD's cameras. I urge you to interrogate this framing.

Faux news is screaming " conspiracy theory!!" at online claims that the 'assassination ' was fake. C'mon that was the worst acting I've seen in years...a coward doesn't stand up during an active shooter incident.

It's cool to see the GOP going anti-gun. All it took was for a federal government-sanctioned force killing a white male nurse who had a gun, but didn't draw it, to decide that citizens should not have the right to bear arms at certain times...I'm sure this will end well.

3000+ agents in minneapolis
but how many are still in CHI?
they’re no longer steamrolling in maine
CA has some but not a surge

22,000ish agents total?

so no real “strong front line”?

dually note, comrades.

Tear gas is banned in international warfare, yet classified as a “riot control agent” that law enforcement can use for crowd control.

“It just doesn’t work well, and it hits the weakest people the most, and causes the most complications in them,” an anesthesiology professor at Duke University said.
Tear Gas Is Way More Dangerous Than Police Let On

ICE is running a “conveyor belt” of illegally detained Minnesota families.

Agents are arresting entire families with legal status and immediately shipping them off to Texas to deny them legal representation and avoid the federal courts in Minnesota.

The cruelty is endless.
