Another great paper by our visiting student, Federico Parolin, showing how to decompose large energy system models spatially and by sector, and the significant speed-up this gives large and high-resolution models. This work will allow more models to be scaled up on large computer clusters.

This is really not appropriate from Energy exemplar. Many universities, including MIT, are developing these sorts of models. Are they going to ban everyone? It seems a brilliant strategy to ensure their customers can find students well trained in using PyPSA, GenX, Dolphyn and the like
Energy Exemplar has blocked all TU Berlin students from academic licences for their energy modelling tool PLEXOS because competitor PyPSA is developed here. While deeply shocked, we believe in turning the other cheek. So we are offering all Energy Exemplar employees a free licence for PyPSA.
