We wanted Rick Steves' dreamland to be designed in the style of proto-surrealist Italian artist Giorgio de Chirico.

We got Rick Steves on The Simpsons! After years of trudging around places with his books and going to pizza places he recommends, I say, Thanks, Rick - you're an American travel hero.
Guess who’s guest-starring on the next episode of "The Simpsons"? Tune in this Sunday, May 11, at 8pm (7pm CT) on FOX — or stream it Monday on Hulu. (Look for the episode called “Full Heart, Empty Pool.”)

Just a few posts coming up about tonight's West Coast airing of "Full Heart, Empty Pool." Written by the brilliant Jeff Westbrook (he's also The Simpsons most-educated writer). Directed by the amazing Chris Clements.

On this Sunday night's Simpsons we get the old band back together -- Blake Griffin, Megan Rapinoe, and brilliant travel host Rick Steves!

That new, exclusive to Disney+ episode of #TheSimpsons, The Past & the Furious is really great. This last year of the series had been a standout overall of the last decade, but this episode in particular really landed for me. It’s a bit Back to the Future, with lots of heart and humor. Recommend.

A lot of the lyrics of this hilarious song just poured out of Dan Castellaneta in the writers room the day we were working on it. Plus he sings it too!

Come on, Lisa, "Make like a petri and dish!"

I had sweaters made for all our writers that had the "Little Moose Club" logo along with an image of one of the mini moose. So far not a single person has asked any of us what the logo is about.

Lisa inhabiting the body of her ancestor Edith. I love the look of this show, directed by the hugely talented Michael Polcino.

Sometimes for table reads we write "This is a real thing" about something in the show that people might not have heard of. The EMDR tappers are a good example -- real therapy tools. I can only assume they'll also make you time travel.

Dr. Chaplet is named for (and designed after) the character Dodo Chaplet in the 1960's Dr. Who. This is one of about two time travel Easter eggs in the show! @thesimpsons

"The Past and the Furious," an episode I wrote and was co-runner on, premieres today on Disney+! Lisa actually travels back in time, and here to kick it off is a freeze frame screen from the opening. My favorite category: "Fan Infuriators."

My next episode of The Simpsons premieres on Feb. 12th, an original just for Disney+! Lisa travels back in time and alters the course of history!

We had various designs of Burns' Vermeer, and ultimately decided the nose ring should closely resemble the original's earring.@thesimpsons

Wine Court inspired by the crazy French trial in the terrific movie Anatomy of a Fall. That movie didn't have a bored-looking courtroom cat in a turtleneck, but should have @thesimpsons

The guy on the far right designed to look like @jlazebnik. The animation camera adds 10 pounds. @thesimpsons

Robert Parker, on the right, inventor of the famous 100 point wine rating scale, voiced himself. I give his performance a 100. See how he judged Andrew Lloyd Webber (on the left) @TheSimpsons

Robin Hood-style Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson, Hubert Wong, Marge and Smithers. Doesn't get a lot cuter than this. @TheSimpsons

Our dream sequence homage to the Disney 1973 feature "Robin Hood." Gabe DeFrancesco and his animation did an incredible job. @TheSimpsons

Did you know there's a Sp ingfield in 26 states? We're not saying where this one is. @TheSimpsons

Music for Homer's song about the joy of cover-ups by the amazing @karatalve. That's our live, 35-piece orchestra in the track. @TheSimpsons
