Grog Pop!
It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about a new direction/ design! I have literally been wanting to test porcelain grog for YEARS.. not sure what took me so long to get here…. Excited to make more and continue experimenting!

Grog Pop! I might have to keep this mug for our collection😍…. VERY excited about this new chunky porcelain grog technique!

I’ll definitely be making some more! Stay tuned for a spring release date, probably end of April!

Coloured clay & grog with silkscreen test.

With an upcoming grant deadline I’ve been writing about this new body of work and it’s 2nd phase... Excited about the idea!🤞

Either way, taking the time to hone and articulate your vision and inspiration is such a beneficial process. Keep writing ideas!

Dandelions! Who doesn’t love these tenacious plants that reclaim sidewalks and manicured lawns? Seriously though their deep tap roots break up compacted soil and pull up nutrients so they can be beneficial (within reason. Always impressive to see them thrive in terrible conditions like parking lots

More grog tests, medium-chunky edition. Excited to explore this layered inlay style! Pressed groggy clay into the mold, then layered it with casting clay! Super fun, with lots of potential.

Next time mug 1 colours with mug 3 texture and grog size. And a higher contrast stain for the blue one!

Confetti mugs!
First test run of the fine porcelain grog tests. (Also did some chunkier tests). Will tweak them still. I want to adjust some of the colour combos and add a white clay layer between the grog and interior layer. Some white areas are a bit thin after sponging.

Overall I like them

Dandelion, burdock & pineapple weed!
Lots of silk screening and experiments in the studio these days. Loading a bisque kiln today with the first test batch with some new grog and underglaze transfers, suuuper excited about them. 😁

Testing porcelain grog!

I’ve been interested in exploring some coloured grogs for AGES… finally got around to it. Tested a few different mesh sizes, powder and larger chunks. Now I’ll need to do some more colour tests and combos! Fun!

Thanks for letting me borrow your plate mill @mcmillanpottery!

Yesterday was glaze day!! I managed to fit every piece in the kiln with the exception of one mini bud vase which was 1 mm too tall! Tetris game on point, ha ha.

The last year or two I have started exploring some lichen inspired sculptural vessels and wall tiles. After many years of exclusively making functional tableware it’s been such a refreshing body of work. These pieces are included in my email subscriber sale. Sign up by Feb 7th to get the coupon code

Making a Peony mug! This series, and the commercial underglaze decals, inspired me to learn how to silkscreen and make my own custom designs. (Which I am currently exploring in my studio right now).

I have a few of these mugs in stock which can be 20% off if you subscribe to my newsletter by Feb 7.

I haven’t made this Alpine Meadow series in a while, but when this prairie girl dreams of visiting the mountains it’s always a fun series to create. I layer multiple colours of casting slip in the plaster mold first (sometimes removing areas to create sharp peaks) then cast the body in white.

Thought I’d start with sharing some older photos for this new to me platform! (Such a weird feeling to be starting fresh again)! This marbled slip cast line is my signature style, which I have been creating for many years. I leave the surface unglazed, and sand it for a soft matte finish.

Hello from my ceramic studio in Winnipeg! 👋
Excited to join this online community while I begin to distance myself from the other problematic platforms. I will be posting lots of clay content and some occasional garden posts. Looking forward to meeting some new and familiar faces! ❤️
