Really need to get some friends together and make some magic. And by magic, I mean dancing and chanting in a dead language in a circle around a bonfire under a full moon while wearing nothing but bones and furs as we trip on naturally-occurring entheogens.

Gotta say, Grindr's BetterHelp and Prepp ads make sense, but I'm really confused about the Steven Curtis Chapman and the Bible Association ad

Kinda wild that John Coumbe, first white settler of Richland County in 1840, literally referred to the land as "Canaan," which fits with the fact that the Ho-Chunk were evicted just three years prior, and those that remained were treated as trespassers and killed on sight.

Like, it makes me really sad that the 1972 history book of my town ends with the optimistic building of the campus (which was built on my great uncle Roland's land, no less). The campus now sits empty and unused, with debates about what to do with it as the city pays to keep the lights on. Ugh.

A reminder that 100+ years ago, my great great grandma was 13 and my great great grandpa was 36. Soooooooooo maybe we shouldn't make America great again y'all

All this so I can ignore the fact that I have to tow my dead dad's dead car lol I'm excellent at distracting myself with self-righteousness

Oh, and there is literally 9.6x the recommended amount for radium in our tap water, and our main river is impaired, the entire town lives in the fumes of factories, and we even have a whole annual thing for raising money for cancer. But can't get people to see that it's in the water and air and soil

We lost our community college (UW Richland), another is on its way (UW Baraboo). And now we are losing our ambulance service, while simultaneously building more condos that locals can't afford. Make it make sense.

Also been playing too much Red Dead Redemption II lol and reading too many history books from the 1900s

Like you can't look down on rural communities for being poor and uneducated when you higher authorities do everything they can to keep them that way
November 13, 2025 at 7:22 PM
Theres a reason why small rural communities fought so hard for their school houses, districts and colleges, and there is also a reason why those same communities are slowly losing their public education. It cant be afforded. This reflects back on the community, which must seek services elsewhere.

Also wild that we are kinda forced to stay with shitty jobs because we need the money and literally don't know if we will be able to find something better, or are locked into a certain wage because we can't afford higher education, which means that poverty and education are linked, surprise surprise

Kinda wild that my anxiety is at least 50,000 years old and that it kept my hunter-gatherer ancestors alive, but now it is being used to worry about things that humanity made to make things easier but actually just made everything harder (money, jobs, taxes, government, etc)

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX
