Ordered 1800flowers for Valentines Day like I have many times before. And this year the flowers are very disappointing. Wife even said that grocery store flowers would have been better.

Been working on some reinforcement learning.
Got the model solving my basic maze.

Started with Claude, burned through days of credits, still couldn’t get it there. Ended up writing it by hand.

Now it works. 8 headless Godot servers running physics in parallel.

AI has 3 phases:

1. “It’s amazing!”

2. “Dumb POS” (you waste days on what you could’ve done in hours)

3. Acceptance: useful sometimes, nowhere near the hype.

After 4 hours of running bright, I’ve gotta call it and go to bed.

Cap is still sitting at 1.88V, which means in theory this LED would’ve stayed bright for another hour+ easy.

More than 10 min since I disconnected the batteries and it’s still going strong.

Let there be light! Got the cap up to 1.6V after many many hours.

Slowly, carefully, responsibly charging an ultracap for the first time. 100R resistor and 2xAA batteries.

Current-limited. Meter watching. No sparks.

These just showed up and I definitely have no plans to connect them to a candle and charge batteries with fire.

Totally normal.

Built a selectable load box and started real measurements. Peltier is upcycled from a dead mini fridge. Hot side was ~200°F water, cold side ice from outside. It peaked around ~0.1W at ~10Ω and collapsed fast below that.

Selectable load box is alive! rotary switch, cement resistors, with a messy perfboard. Resistance readings check out. Next step is throwing real power at it with a Stirling + Peltier.

Didn’t plan this one very well, but it’s turning into a selectable load box anyway. Cement resistors, perfboard, rotary switch. Using it to poke at a Stirling engine + a Peltier and see how many watts I can make.

Started an interesting workflow. I tell #ChatGPT what I want. It writes a prompt for #Claude to write the code and make the changes. I review everything and keep both on track. I also have #ChatGPT review #Claudes work and make suggestions.

Did you know resisters come in concrete? I Didn’t until now. Working on a circuit that will allow me to measure the power output of my Sterling Engine.

Four Against Darkness Party.

Obviously AI generated. There’s no chance I would ever pay an artist for a party image for this game. I suck at art so it’s nice I can have something to look at. They are very generic looking, but if you know this game, they will likely die in a few turns so it’s ok.

New year so I tried one of my trail cam photos with AI video again. I think it looks pretty good. Big improvement over last year. This is much closer to my prompt. Weird that you see the camera zooms out to see the camera. It almost looks like a pacifier 🤪 #AI #KlingAI #AITrailCam

But I don’t want to update to iOS 26. My wife has it and hates it. #Apple #iOS

Advent of Code has started! I wait all year for this. I’m going to do it in Forth again this year. My kid is a year older so hopefully I get a little more time to work on the challenges. #adventofcode #adventofcode2025 #forth #programming #noai

Not the most portable setup, but here’s how I’ve been playing Pokémon Odyssey:
Raspberry Pi Zero 2, portable display, battery pack, and an 8BitDo Pro 2 controller.

Might try strapping the Pi and battery to the screen.

IT WORKS!!! 🎉 My cab is officially ALIVE 👾🔥 Running #RetroPie with a custom power rail + 3D printed case I built.
12V for the LCD 5V for the Raspberry Pi
Can’t believe this finally came together 🙌

I cannot recommend the Panda Festival. We spent more time standing in line than actually inside. It was what I imagine hell to be like. Food prices started at $15 for a single skewer. You’re crammed shoulder to shoulder just to shuffle past a dozen food vendors and then you’re out.

Used #Blender to design a custom case for my #ArcadeCabinet power circuit ⚡️
4x M3 screws hold the top in place. Inside, 12V comes in and splits into three 12V lines + one 5V line to power the LCD, speakers, lights, and Raspberry Pi.

Whipped up some OpenSCAD parts to house my custom power rail board.
Blue PETG panels + bright orange corner blocks to hold M3 screws. Next step: assemble and see how tidy this can get!

Finally got power sorted. ⚡️
12V rail feeding the LCD, speakers, and button lights, plus a DC-DC step-down for 5V to the Raspberry Pi. It’s a spaghetti mess of cables right now, but everything works! Cleanup next. 🤞
