"Galadriel" ... is an invention of my own. It is in Sindarin form ... and means ‘Maiden crowned with gleaming hair’ ... She was then of Amazon disposition and bound up her hair as a crown when taking part in athletic feats. [Letter 348]

My Galadriel crown braid wig is finished!! Yeee!

Like with her hair down look, I started with a base platinum wig and did a ton of alcohol marker work to add lowlights and roots and toning. I’m gonna be doing a video on that process so keep an eye out!

Against Elrond Half-elven's advice, Círdan, Gil-galad and Galadriel decide to use the Rings of Power. The question of Sauron's influence looms large over Celebrimbor's rings.

Out of these 4 scenes from season 1, which is your favourite?

• Celebrimbor forges the Three, Elrond suspects deception (Alloyed)

• Halbrand and Galadriel in the forge (Partings)

• The White Tree summons the Faithful (The Great Wave)

• Galadriel rejects the summons (A Shadow of the Past)

Will be posting more "scene breakdown" threads like these in future, let me know if there's anything you'd like to see.

Happy birthday JRR Tolkien! On this day, January 3 of 1892, the author of The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit was born!

I am so thankful for his lifelong devotion to storytelling and world-building, and I am inspired everyday to pursue beauty, goodness, and truth because of him.

In the last years of his life, Tolkien repeatedly revised aspects of Galadriel's history. Throughout Letter 353 he repeatedly defends Galadriel's choices, arguing she was "legitimate" in her hasty journey to Middle-earth, though the exact nature of her quest remains somewhat unclear...

(Continued)
[Galadriel] burned with desire to follow Fëanor with her anger to whatever lands he might come ... Pride still moved her when, ... after the final overthrow of Morgoth, she refused the pardon of the Valar for all who had fought against him, and remained in Middle-earth.

"I am [a] person of small importance even in my profession, except for the fact that my two books about the imaginary history of the Third Age ... have had, and still increasingly have, an enormous success, to my delight, but still more to my great amazement."

Happy birthday, Professor. 🎂
