I bought a bottle of this single barrel store pick in 2017. It was fine. Then in 2024 I picked it up again, forgetting I’d already had it. Same bourbon, but me with 7 more years on my palate. Proper notes to come, but out of the gate I think I like it better now than I did the first time. Cheers!

This K&L Faultline release is dubbed “Islay Mystery.” It’s labelled a “blend” because a teaspoon of something else was added. But one sip and there’s no doubt this is Ardbeg single malt—aged 26 years, bottled at cask strength. Proper notes coming soon. Sláinte!

Another bird down. This WT Rye SiB was quite good, though with its price north of the standard Russell’s Reserve Rye SiB and the quality being on par, I don’t see the incentive to pay more. I was glad to enjoy this, though, no question. Cheers!

Westward keeps churning out the hits. I recently finished a bottle of the excellent Trinity of Casks release, so I cracked this Acacia Cask Finished release. All the familiar Westward notes I love, slightly darker and accented by a mouthwatering tanginess from a zingy grapefruit zest note. Cheers!

A true departure for the Hotaling & Co Hirsch line—an in-house distilled single malt whiskey made from 100% barley. Their Old Potrero is also a single malt, but distilled from rye. Can’t wait to taste what happens when barley is given the Hirsch / Old Potrero / Hotaling’s touch. Cheers!

Proper notes to come. But out of the gate I like this. It’s a 10-barrel small batch blend of 7-year Wild Turkey bourbon, bottled at 107 proof. Comes across like a more sparkly, spicy Wild Turkey 101 8 Year. Cheers!

I picked up this mini premixed cocktail bottle in Berlin this past August. Finally got around to giving it a go. A delightful, tasty, sweet and citric cocktail. And nice to have something on hand that’s made in Berlin, still my favorite city on the planet. Prost!

Almost at the end of this one. A solid old fashioned bourbon. If it becomes readily available and the price drops a notch, I could see it being a regular on my home shelf. Cheers!

Lookin’ forward to this! Of course K&L can’t name the source outright. But they drop enough hints on the label for us to know this is a small batch blend of 7-year Wild Turkey, bottled at a hearty 107 proof—a nod to the distillery’s original entry proof. Cheers!

When I find myself in the vicinity of The Old Clam House, I can’t resist paying the ol’ joint a visit. Opened in 1861 on what was then the outskirts of San Francisco, they’re still serving up that same comforting clam chowder. And paired with a pour of Ardbeg Ten? Perfection. Cheers!
