Any other system of complex inputs, we accept as having highly difficult-to-predict outputs. I don't know why people keep assuming media is an exception to this.

And this isn't even getting into like, obvious fetish material.
A lot of fetish material REVOLVES around cruelty. I know LOTS of people who indulge in this but are incredibly sweet IRL. I also am aware of people who indulge in this and don't let the boundary markers stop them from being assholes.

Okay, I'll bite. What you're talking about is pre-emptively judging people based on their choice in media. You might assume that this process is clear and straightforward, whereas I have been on the internet and seen people who like Steven Universe get mass labeled as genocide apologists

You are allowed to vicariously adjust your moral framework for the purpose of enjoying a piece of entertainment.
It is not an indicator that it is your "real" moral framework.
