@footballcliches.bsky.social another rapid occurrence of the commentators's curse. Alan Smith on Man City v Bournemouth saying Bournemouth had had a confident start, immediately before City scored. Smith finished speaking on 16:18, by which time Haaland was through on goal- ball was in net on 16:23.

@mancity.com Please reinstate the worker you unfairly sacked for wearing a Man U shirt. I've never been so ashamed to be a City fan. This was a bit of fun. In a democracy we have free speech and free thought.

Decided to redesign and simplify my author website, in light of having a good reason for people to go there. Appreciate any thoughts rickberry.co.uk

It's green football weekend, so of course my son's football club made 18 families drive a 120km round trip to watch our 8-9 year old children play an hour of football. 2,160km driven in total. Why is this still happening?

The examiner hasn’t said anything for a long time, not since we first pulled up to the junction. What is her name again? Tade, I think. Perhaps I should say something, just to break the silence.

Don't forget, fellow writers: even your characters have to poop.
Daily Necessities: sleeping, eating, bathing, going to the bathroom -- do you mention them in your stories?

I always include food and sleep, but generally not the rest (other than a mention of how dirty my characters become during their adventures).

I am new to Bluesky and would love to follow more people, especially in the writing community (writers, editors, publishers, reviewers, agents). I am also into public policy and democracy research too. If you follow me and/or reply here I will follow back.

I read a lot of dog research to inform this strange book (that doesn't advocate a cull). But the work that stood out as being crucial was that of @profaliceroberts.bsky.social on evolution, Claire Parkinson on class, Jessica Pierce on ethics & data from John Tulloch and Carri Westgarth. Thanks!
Publication day today. Kill All The Dogs has been my obsession for several years and now I get to ask other people to read it.

One of the best ways to raise curiosity in the reader at the onset of your story is to throw them in the middle of things with no context.
