AI assist still failing at 21:45 PDT Saturday, says BJ's won.

Google thinks that the Blue Jays won the World Series 4 games to 1, at game 5, after saying it was 2-2 after game 4.

Betting against software improving tends to be a losing game, but relying on it for search requires a bit of skepticism.

It is funny how 4chan participants feel so edgy when it was literally named for the old regime where we had four network channels.

It is talk like a pirate day.

Do you know the Pirate's favorite statistical modeling language?

Sure, a lot of them like R, but pirates have been around a long time, so mostly they use SPSS, it is what they are used to using.

I like this quote "We design for the board of inquiry before we set the mast. "

There are a couple of other good lines for reflection, like 'start with the leak, not with the sail.'

The story uses a metaphor for AI of an automated canvas on a ship.

If you title a story "Building a Local AI Agent with Human-Like Memory" then I am going to reflect that you should probably aspire to do better than human 'rewrite on use,' patchy assed partial remembrance.

I would like computer like memory please. With error detection _and_ correction.

His description of Python echoes my self image. Aging by trustworthy

I like this framing.

"Here is a standard test — look at people next to your cubicle or on the adjacent squares of a Zoom call and ask yourself if these people can even order at the drive-through window. And these people will be telling AI what to build?"

Rereading Charlie Stross's The Delirium Brief, and the shutdown of the Laundry has massive resonances with the current attack on our government.

I bought a new CO2 laser power supply and tube. It came with a current meter with a knob.

I connected everything up, the laser wouldn't fire.

After an embarrassing amount of work I accidentally discovered that the knob controlled the laser!

A reminder to always explore UI affordances.
