A long time ago I heard that those plane tickets scanners sites can find the ticket immediately, but add a "searching" delay because users value more something that takes time to create. I wonder how much the perceived value of OpenAI's o1 is just because of it taking its time.

The new "Ask to Buy" feature in iOS 18 for controlling kids' App Store purchases has gotten worse. Now, instead of sending a proper notification, it creates a thread in Messages with the request. Not only it takes longer, but I don’t use Messages at all and it's always muted.

On how AI changes some workflows. For a website about an event, I'd typically keep the schedule in some database and have the site dynamically update. This requires more than a static HTML, though. Now, I just throw the HTML+CSV in Claude and it gives me the updated HTML.

I guess one way to tell AI was used to pick Nobel Prize winners would be an overrepresentation of winners working on AI.
