Fail to believe that this couldn’t have been handled better by his now former employer.

My 1996 self would be almost as excited as my current self about tonight.

Options to reinvest fees we receive for Bruno, Garna(?), the Alvaro sell on, the wages saved from outgoings.

Badly need a striker. But the market is sparse. Osimhen the obvious money-no-object candidate.

Gyokeres - familiar with UK (and Wales) and Amorim. Older but more proven?

Others?? Who?

On Bruno. Trying to take a balanced view on the situation.

For selling:
We reap what we sow. Years of mismanagement compounded by a terrible seaosn and a fork in the road loss vs Spurs, leads us to needing cash. We’d get a decent number for a soon to be 31yr old.

Given what happened this week, and the fact that he’s 31 in September, I wouldn’t blame him for wanting a change. I’d prefer it if it was to a club like Bayern or PSG, so he could win the silverware his career deserves. But that money is badly needed too.
Al Hilal are ready to offer £100 million for Bruno if he accepts their basic offer of £700,000 a week, and up to £65 million a season including signing-on fees and bonuses [Chris Wheeler, Daily Mail]
Al Hilal have set Bruno Fernandes a deadline of next week to accept their offer. They want an answer by the end of the month and are hopeful that he can be persuaded to leave [Chris Wheeler, Daily Mail]

Easy to be wise after the event, but it’s interesting to reflect on the analysis carried out last summer into EtH replacements. I recall reading it and whilst Amorim actually topped the list, I held reservation due to the 3-4-3 formation. Here for reference jamesrenton10.medium.com/the-best-sta...

The morning after the night before.

The lowest I have ever felt about this football club last night. Incredible how closely your mental health can be linked to a 11 guys kicking a ball on some grass.

The worst season in my lifetime, got even worse thanks to that horror-show.

I genuinely believe that Plan B, given the massive expenditure required to fund an Amorim side, could now see him go. The deficit caused by this loss is so significant that we may not be able to afford to back him. It’s going to be a huge crossroads month ahead.

Baffled by Amorim’s reluctance to address what was abundantly obvious and make earlier changes. He messed up.

Called it.

Total failure.

Didn’t turn up.
I’m *very* nervous about tonight’s match. So much is riding on it, and we’re not exactly mentally tough, are we? Quite the opposite, in fact.

I suggest that more pressure is on United than Spurs, and that burden will feel heavy. Look at how poor we were against Athletic at OT.

How on earth doesn't VAR intervene here? Clearly I'm all for it given he then saves a City penalty, but this is baffling.

The stick-the-centre-half-up-top tactic is back with vengeance, and I'm all here for it.

Football.

Don’t get the hysteria. I mean would you rather get paid handsomely to live in Madrid, or in Liverpool, for doing precisely the same job. Pretty sure the majority would select the former. Weird how we hold sportspeople, and footballers in particular, to a different standard.

For the love of God get De Ligt on halftime.
May 1, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Complete lack of composurein our own third is astonishing. Athletic doing a great pressing job on us.

Yeah not gonna lie, not good good vibes about this evening folks! Lindylong masterclass awaits. A draw would be most appreciated.

Good this. Whether any of these targets are attained remains to be seen, however.
Who should Manchester United buy this summer?

We look at 4 position groups and identify 4 potential targets each: Ideal, likely, backup plan, and going to the casino.

It won't fix them, but it's a great start.

Just finished Killing Thatcher, by Rory Carroll. A stunning piece of work, superb storytelling. A non-fiction novel that reads like a thriller.
Unputdownable.

Bumping into World Cup winner Fernando Llorente, scorer of one of the finest goals I’ve seen against United, and former Jack, in a zoo on Tenerife wasn’t on my bingo card, but here we are!

Has to be Maguire up top now. Kitchen sink time.

Some of this is on the manager too by the way. He isn’t blame free.
