Hi BlueSky! I’m Rodrigo, a Chilean marine biologist doing my PhD in the UK with @pippajmoore.bsky.social @iapetusdtp.bsky.social @newcastleuni.bsky.social and @naturalengland.bsky.social. My research explores novel urchin barrens in the UK kelp forests — why they happen and how resilient they are 🌿🧪

Almost a month ago I returned from an amazing field trip to the Isles of Scilly 🌊 Studying L. hyperborea at its southern UK range was a privilege. Big thanks to @hjncatherall.bsky.social and @pippajmoore.bsky.social for such a great experience! #KelpForests #MarineBiology #Fieldwork #UKScience

This week I began my HSE diving qualification to become a certified scientific diver in the UK! 🧜‍♂️
It’s exciting, intense, and very cold — Diving is a key part for monitoring underwater habitats. Time to put some cold water under the dry suit and get to work!
