Artist, Writer, & Filmmaker. Not necessarily in that order.
I’m staying at a pretty bad vacation rental: grimy, a bit decrepit, and several things just don’t work (like the faucet in the bathroom). Here’s my dilemma: do I have an obligation to leave a bad review, or should I not leave any review and just tell the host why I am unhappy?

Is there any industry that is safe from the future incursion of artificial intelligence?

It’s still listed as the “Gulf of Mexico” in my map apps — but I’m located in Portugal. Has it changed on anyone’s map in the USA? Just curious (and amused with the audacity and hubris of it all). #politics #expansionism #nationalism

I’ve been resisting for years, mainly because I was loathe to pay another monthly subscription for something I might only read occasionally, but now I wish I’d subscribed sooner… the long-form journalism in the New Yorker is top rate, and there’s so much fascinating stuff to read! #thenewyorker

I recently started painting again, and after completing a couple of works in acrylic (and one watercolor), I started painting with oils — for the first time in decades! I had forgotten how much fun they are! How’s my progress so far?

Has anyone here ever written a screenplay, and then adapted that screenplay into a novel? Is there any benefit to writing both?

I just finished this art storage cart, based on one I found online. However, at the end of the day it actually cost me more to make than the purchase price of the online model. In the current global marketplace, materials and labor are so cheap it rarely makes fiscal sense to DIY anymore.

My wife raised a good point: why is the NYPD devoting so much time, money, and effort on the murder of the United Healthcare CEO, when there are hundreds of homicides in NYC that barely garner an investigation? Justice should not be dependent on wealth!

While waiting to board our flight, my sun got a gash on his head that required a trip to the ER. We obviously missed our flight and had to rebook, for which we were charged nearly €800. The medics at the airport told me we shouldn’t be charged. Should I seek reimbursement? #travelwoes #airportmishap

Planner or Pantser? I see this question asked in almost every writer interview, and nearly everyone says they’re a little of both. So why ask the question? Why not just ask them to describe their process? Does anyone actually fit neatly into either camp?

Here are two recent paintings employing different approaches in technique. I’m still kicking the rust off after many years of relative artistic inactivity…

Here’s my definition of art: a compelling work created with the intention to elicit an emotional response for an audience. Does AI-generated art qualify under those terms? Is the “artist” the one who writes the prompt or the program itself? I’m still on the fence.

What is a reasonable number of agents to query before pulling the plug?
I’ve only been querying for a couple of months, but I’m not sure how long to give it before going the hybrid or self-publishing route. Any thoughts?
