Mayor of Ithaca
Ok. Kimmel’s back. But let me be clear, that's not because principle won. It’s because profit and optics lined up. That’s why we can’t rely on corporate benevolence to defend our rights. Only working-class solidarity can do that.

Change condo building rules to help fill in housing's "missing middle"

The current system makes it unnecessarily difficult to build condominiums outside of New York City. Some straightforward changes could boost middle-density homeownership.

Opinion: The time for progressive governance is now

Let’s build a real partnership among New York’s progressive leaders – from the Hudson Valley to Harlem, from the Finger Lakes to Flatbush.

Happy Fourth of July, Ithaca! 🇺🇸
Today we honor the promise of democracy—and remember it’s up to us to defend it.

In the face of rising threats, let’s recommit to freedom, justice, and community for all.

Stay safe and celebrate boldly.

You don’t have to agree with your mayor on everything. But it helps when he’s a hopeless policy nerd who thinks spreadsheets are fun and would literally rather be drafting legislation than doing almost anything else.

So grateful for my friend @delgadoforny.bsky.social's leadership and advocacy on behalf of New Yorkers. I am excited to see what the next chapter holds for him.

Just a friendly reminder that your elected leaders should prioritize sustainability, prosperity, affordability, and liveability, not popularity and likeability. Leave the world a better place than you found it.

I'm really touched to have been nominated and been awarded the Centennial Under 40 Impact Award from the National League of Cities. Serving my home is the greatest professional privilege of my life.

We’re focused on feeding our kids.

Investing in our schools.

Making sure child care is affordable.

Regardless of the chaos unfolding in Washington, we’re making Minnesota the best state for kids to grow up.

Major announcement today as @govkathyhochul.bsky.social announced major investments in Pro-Housing Communities across New York. Glad to have a partner in Albany who is committed to bringing affordability to the working people of our great State!

The federal administration has just announced its intention to freeze several trillion dollars of grant funding to recipients around the world. This dangerous and reckless decision will materially harm the American people, our economy, and US interests around the world.

At a time when New Yorkers need relief, @govkathleenhochul.bsky.social continues to demonstrate her commitment to working families & affordability. This plan to sustain increased AIM funding is a crucial element of keeping local governments operating & property taxes reasonable.

Now I want to read a story about Tolkienesque Dwarves in the modern world.
Dwarves - if they really committed to the bit of living in caverns and caves - would be god-tier HVAC guys, having to manage all that airflow and moisture to make those underground/in-mountain settlements comfortable.

In case anyone's wondering, there's at least one New York mayor with no interest in an inaugural invitation.

This is a huge win for New Yorkers. We have all felt the economic pressure of inflation and this will put the real money in the pockets of working families trying to get by. Thank you @GovKathyHochul!
Gov. Hochul's proposed Inflation Refund would impact an estimated 8.6 million New Yorkers, per her office. It would provide up to a $300 rebate to single filers making up to $150,000 and up to $500 for dual filers making up to $300,000
