"No, I'm not sure men had anything to do with it" everytime someone says "Best laid plans of mice and men"
What's the most stupid movie reference you have to stop yourself saying regularly? Mine is not replying to "Can I be frank?" with "Okay, Frank. Can I be Bullwinkle".

OK I haven't been posting much (sorry - I will try to do better!) but the chance to share about cricket and supporting Ukraine is just too much to resist
We'll reveal our beautiful new jersey – designed for our matches against Iceland, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania at next month's Euro Cup in Warsaw! – as soon as we reach 3,000 followers.

Surely we'll get there this week, if our supporters share this post? 🇺🇦🏏

So good to have @bishopnorwich.bsky.social with us at St.Peter's this morning for candlemas, communion and confirmations.
Such a joyous occasion shared with so many of our church community

Great to see RIchard Turk licensed this evening - an absolutely packed church service!

Great to have the Dean of Norwich Cathedral (and former Rector of this parish) with us yesterday and to inspire us in our prayer lives.

Now looking forward to next week when we have @bishopnorwich.bsky.social joining us for confirmations and cake!

It was very much worth wrapping up warm this morning for a trip to Hickling Broad. One of Norfolk Wildlife Trust's amazing people showed us how to spot various trails and tracks that animals leave behind.

Off to a wildlife event with the family this morning.....new levels of extreme layering up incoming

Right with a mass migration seemingly starting from Twitter to here....this is my attempt at a Diocese of Norwich starter pack...

Let me know those I have invariably missed!

BlueSky is getting busier!

Espescially love seeing @dioceseofnorwich.bsky.social @ianbishop.bsky.social @bishopoflynn.bsky.social & @bishopnorwich.bsky.social make the move over from Twitter.

If you want to know more about what is happening in Norfolk (and Waveney!) give them a follow & say hello!

This from @stephenkb.bsky.social in today's Inside politics is going to haunt/challenge/inspire me for a long time:

"There is a lot of ink spilled about politicians and their principles and I just think, ultimately, your principles are what you do."

I remember Macbeth, Great Expectations, An inspector Calls, Jane Eyre and Of Mice and Men...plus what felt like an awful lot of Chaucer
I don't think I particularly enjoyed any of them at the time but was deeply impacted by the endings of both an Inspector Calls and Of Mice and Men
US and UK friends, I'm curious: What books were part of your required reading for highschool literature class? Which of them do you remember loving, and which did you loathe?

Off to talk to 60x 10 and 11 year olds about happiness this morning and although I, probably, wont be mentioning Aquinas in it I am taking inspiration from @re-mcgee.bsky.social and taking a cake in as an illistrutive point....

Tough Diocesan Synod this morning as we addressed the Makin report, safeguarding and the diocesan budget. However glimmers of light in the tough times included reports on an increase in ordained voctions in the diocese and progress being made towards net zero

I suggested the following...Recently east west street by Phillipe Sands, The Restless Republic by Anna Keay and The Siege of Loyalty House by Jessie Childs.

But what about others?
I could do with some inspiration. What are the best non-fiction books you’ve read?

Might be the best advice I've seen re:today's election!
Dear Europeans,
There is literally zero point in staying up all night.
Anxiety is not a hobby.
Go to bed at 10 pm this evening.
We might all need our energy tomorrow.

Reading and writing about assisted dying in the face of conversations I've had over the last few days - praying for wisdom and discernment for our MPs as they enage with correspondance and make up their own minds in such anemotive debate

I know I am no longer an analytical chemist but a good spreadsheet still gives me such a thrill it is incredible

(though I have yet to look at the content of this particular spreadsheet which I reckon is going to be depressing)

1. Couldn’t continue to justify supporting a platform with an owner spreading all manner of nastiness.
2. I am enjoying it and loving seeing some great engagement.
3. Breaking news chat and people in my line of work (lots of whom I’ve been trying to persuade…)
1. Why did you come to Bluesky?
2. How is it going?
3. Who are you missing and how are you going to get them to come here?

I remember being taken to our local library as a primary school trip. I had never seen so many books and it seemed like such a magical place.
It’s a habit that has kept going and now my children have more books out than me. Hope more can be kept open.

In all seriousness I think getting government accounts on here, with announcements on Twitter etc. is needed to stop a proliferation of people possibly pretending to be cabinet ministers….

I’m aware I may have become an old cynic but until we get moderation I am naturally suspicious of political accounts ….especially those who get the PM’s name wrong….hope I am wrong but my spidey senses are twitching

Just realised that Bluesky has now replaced the most valuable thing I used Twitter for - getting good book recommendations (I think the first was East West street by Philippe Sands which is an excellent read)
Very excited to find this awaiting me when I got home - @moudhy.bsky.social’s forthcoming book Between Two Rivers
