Revelstoke's Girl Guides troop was full of stories at a Wednesday, Oct. 15 presentation highlighting their summer trip to Europe after three years of planning and fundraising in town.

The Revelstoke Grizzlies are on the road for the start of the 2025-2026 hockey season with a roster of new players, some experienced goalie power and head coach Jiri Novak’s plan to keep players mentally, “on the ice.”

In partnership with BC Housing, Revelstoke’s emergency shelter program will provide 10 rooms for individuals referred for temporary shelter. The program will operate out of the Frontier Motel from Wednesday, Oct. 1 to Thursday, April 30.

City of Revelstoke residents won’t be included in a recent CSRD decision over short-term rentals. The regulation requires STR operators to live in their residence the majority of the year.

Revelstoke Idea Factory is moving into the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre after a long and unplanned hiatus left members and equipment in limbo.

“We wanted... to make sure that what we were able to rebuild would be something that [members] would actually appreciate,” Rick Casson, board chair said.

Wildfire N41517 is now classified as extinguished.

N41419, west of the Downie Creek recreation site is being held at 0.009 hectares.

Wildfire N41406, south of Begbie Falls recreation site is being held at 0.1 hectares.
The wildfire, currently labeled as N41517 on BC Wildfire Service resources is listed as out of control and estimated 0.009 hectares in size. The fire was sparked by lightning strikes in the area Tuesday, Aug. 12, DeRousie said.
