Heard a great story last night:

A friend was working in the European Parliament and was sitting with Otto von Hapsburg at the bar. Someone came up, and thinking they were clever said “Austria-Hungry football is tomorrow. Who will you be rooting for?” Otto responded, “well who are they playing?”

This is going to be great! Bunch of Saints fans roving the streets of Paris, correcting peoples pronunciation of things, boiling shellfish on the sidewalks, and generally getting revenge for them selling out NOLA 220 years ago.

And then they do this dumb sh*t.

Disappointed they don’t get to play with Brest, just because Brest is out of their league.

For all the handwringing ADs, coaches & columnists are doing over the new era of college sports “ruining it” all they have to do is classify athletes as employees & collectively bargain! It didn’t “ruin college sports” when coaches became the highest paid state employees. I wonder why that is???

Cris Collinsworth: I like seeing Caleb Williams so cool.

What are his thoughts on the enforcement of Coach and AD contracts?

Should have gone with “butt time.”

Also, if my in-laws are any indication, it would make ND fans the maddest.

That would have been so much better if his shirt said “I Believe in Jesus”

Did not expect to cry to @paulscheer.com, usually I laugh, but damn, nice work!
In 2023 I became obsessed with videos of dads in cargo shortswaiting in parking lots during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. So when she came to town, I grabbed a camera and headed down to talk to them. I thought it'd be funny. It turned out to be something else entirely.

Last night

6 yr old: Santa isn’t real because he uses magic and magic isn’t real and so he’s not real.

Me: Well, we’ll see how many presents the guy you think isn’t real leaves under the tree for you on Christmas.

6 yr old: Oh, I like Santa, I just don’t believe in him.

Passing along, because same.

ND would have been in if they had won the ACC championship. Maybe being an independent doesn’t pay?
December 7, 2025 at 5:45 PM
It’s also crap, because no conference is going to give up the millions of dollars they make from a conference championship game.

I wrote a bit for McSweeney's about Isaac Chotiner interviewing Santa Claus. Just a little something for the holiday season. Enjoy!

For your daily nightmare fuel, the trees around Cherynobl are not decaying b/c the microbes, fungi, & bacteria that help them decay are not there. So it’s greatly increasing the fire risk in the no-go zone, which is its own kind of terrible b/c the forest is radioactive.

(I know it’s from 2014).

In symbolism a little too on the nose, the venue hosting the UNFCC climate change negotiations in Brazil caught on fire yesterday.
