Reds in Four
@redsinfour.com
#Reds fan, pitch modeling analysis, prospects, dynasty fantasy baseball, baseball in general.

I will not rest until Great American Ballpark is more hitter/pitcher neutral.

2024: #YearOfTheSplitter
2025: #YearOfTheKitchenSink
Obviously the @mlbpitchprofiler.com & @tjstats.ca dashboards give you a much more in-depth breakdown on things like individual whiff%'s on pitches &
@enosarris.bsky.social's Stuff+ grades are huge for being early on an arm.

But more than anything I'd like to be able to scroll through pitch plots.

This is just something I pieced together with screenshots, but something I'd like to see more of is the inclusion of pitch movement plots in rankings.

Individual metrics tell a lot of the story, but at the same time I think the plots really help you truly understand a pitcher.

They gave him a raise from his ARB estimate too!

Truly, how many more "look this guy isn't just big and muscular, he's a Serious Actor too" wrestling movies do we need?

I have cable, and the quality of my broadcast for Game 1 was awful. I thought my TV somehow switched motion-smoothing on... not to mention how absurdly loud they make random noises throughout the game (and occasionally the umpire).

I've been a known proponent of the fact that 2025 is the #YearOfTheKitchenSink, but I have to give props to David Adler (don't think he as BSky account) for this piece on Savant.

The average number of pitches for a SP are rising & so are the # of SPs w/ deep mixes.

Is 2025 really the 'year of the pitch mix'?
Every year, it seems, a hot new pitch type spreads across the Major Leagues. One season is the year of the high four-seamer. The next season is the year of the sweeper. Then the year of the splitter. ...

Valaika Ball, baby!
Reds batters struck out 19 times, a new franchise record for a 9-inning game.

I’ve seen this exact tray tissue at a restaurant as well!

Happy Chase Burns Debut Day!

Burns is a hard-throwing RHP with a 4-pitch mix. A little similar to Hunter Greene, the FF gets the headlines but the SL is his calling card.

CH is better than HG's pre-SPL CH, but I'm curious how it'll play vs. MLB hitters.

Very excited!

We don’t have to compare good Reds players to each other, we can just enjoy them :)

#Reds Stuff+ Preview 6/10 vCLE

Andrew Abbott
Whiff rate is starting to drop and the contact is getting a little louder. Will it matter against's CLE's vLHP lineup?

Slade Cecconi
Lots of variance in arm slots recently... is he healthy? So many 4SFBs... why? Command slipping.

#Reds Stuff+ Preview 6/9 vCLE

Wade Miley
I think there's a distinct CUT & 4SFB in that 4SFB mix. The CUT-like pitches grade better. Not totally sure what the goal is here.

Luis L. Ortiz
One of the best 4SFB Whiff%'s in baseball. I just find him so interesting.

#Reds Stuff+ Preview 6/4 vMIL

Andrew Abbott
Pitching at a really high level lately. The CH improvements & new CUT have been great.

DL Hall
Looks really good. Solid fastball shape & getting whiffs elsewhere. Complete enough mix. Has struggled w/ command in past, but not now.

You know what…

There’s a dormant part of me that would look at a play like TJ Friedl just made and call that a potential turning point in the season.

Let’s see what tomorrow holds!

#Reds Stuff+ Preview 6/3 vMIL

Hunter Greene
Stuff & velo are fine since returning, but Ks aren't there. Some arm angle variance w/ his SL a root cause?

Freddy Peralta
An oddly similar story. These two are just so similar, tbh. Has struggled to go deep into games this year.

Just lifeless… but with a strange air of superiority, acting like they know something that you don’t while they continue to get their ass kicked.

This is the most “end-of-the-Marvin-Lewis-era Bengals” feeling #Reds team I’ve ever seen.
