Society can put so much pressure on #trauma survivors to remain close with people who don’t respect us (“family is everything!” etc), but that puts more burden on us than it does the people who’ve harmed us. The reality is that we deserve safety, peace, and joy above all.

There's a difference between laziness and executive dysfunction. If you were really being lazy, you'd be having a nice time. You wouldn't be wracked with guilt, stress, shame, panic.

There’s a saying amongst people who work in trauma that anger is the part of you that loves yourself the most.

Anger surfaces when we've been neglected or mistreated. It makes it clear that we don’t need to be considerate in spaces we aren’t considered. #trauma
