Babacoa flowers are interesting. Eventually, the inner torpedo shaped fruits grow similar to a papaya and are often referred to as mountain papaya.

Time to repot 6 of the Cacao seedlings, plus 12 from hex pods

Must do:
✔️Use fresh cacao pod
✔️Put each seed between wet paper towel and wait for a root to emerge (2 mm is enough)
✔️Gently scrape off outer shell
✔️Plant in well draining soil (I used the double cup system)
✔️Keep moist but not wet.

Today I am in La Fortuna. It's a jeep boat jeep ride away (or 6 hours on windy roads) from Monteverde.

Temperature in Monteverde was around 18 C. Temperature in La Fortuna is 27C.

A peak inside of a few of the more exotic fruit trees being grown in Ottawa.

The one with the small leaves is a Jaboticabo. Fruit will grow on it's trunk.

To the left, a few leaves from the Cacao trees.

On the right, leaves from Shiranui Cleo mandarin.

I finally closed my bird accounts yesterday despite not using them for some time. It was hard to let go of the great memories, experiences and relationships that were made there in its heyday - it's not that place now.

Hoping to see Bluesky grow positively into new opportunities.

Just a few of the tropical fruits I'm growing in snowy Ottawa.

Finger lime, passion fruit, variegated pink lemon, Kishu mandarin, lime, ginger

So many more in other parts of the house

Ever hear of Babaco -the Champagne fruit? I've added a Babaco to my plant collection and this is it's fruit. It looks a little like a papaya but tastes of strawberry, papaya, kiwi and pineapple.

Excited to try it!

Forecasting sun and frigid temperatures (-35C with windchill) the next few days. Be careful out there not to get sunburn or hypothermia!
