Amazing to visit Bridgewater Foundation Salford: Step into Action and Bridgewater Security with Cllrs Michelle Barnes & Teresa Pepper recently for their Xmas party for local children and charities. Lorry loads of toy and presents—they did amazing, huge thanks to the whole team and all who donated.

Lovely to attend Sacred Trinity Church’s Annual Carol Service yesterday with Reverend Andy Salmon, along with Salford Mayor Paul Dennett & Cllrs Jane Hamilton & Emma Cammell. The Flat Iron choir were brilliant.

I’ve co-signed a letter with Labour colleagues asking the Government to pause concerning plans that would limit jury trials and appeal rights.

I’ve joined MPs in writing to Ministers about proposed ILR changes, calling for protections for Hongkongers on the BN(O) route, no retroactive rule changes, and fair, common-sense exemptions so humanitarian visa routes remain true to their purpose. (1/2)

Pleased the Employment Rights Bill has passed Parliament and will soon be law. It means fairer sick pay, stronger protection from zero-hour contracts and unfair dismissal, better parental leave and tougher redundancy rules, all enforced by a new Fair Work Agency.

The destructive 2 child cap on universal credit has been scrapped 👏

Well done Rachel Reeves and to all who campaigned hard on this. Absolutely the right thing for a Labour Government to do. Will benefit 1.6 million children, and lifts c.500,000 children out of poverty #Budget2025

On International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we must be clear: digital violence is real violence. Online attacks are rising, silencing women in politics, journalism and activism. There is #NoExcuse. This must end.

Congratulations to Futureworks on securing £400k from the Government’s Strategic Priorities Grant, supporting new learning spaces, a virtual production studio and better digital infrastructure to equip learners with the skills our regional economy needs.

Good to be out and about over the weekend in Weaste with Team Salford Labour Councillors and members, speaking to local residents and picking up lots of casework. Thanks to everyone who came along and to those we spoke to.

I have co-signed a cross party letter calling on the Chancellor to make this year's Budget a turning point. Our tax system asks too much of working people and too little of extreme wealth. [1/2]

Today is World COPD Day. COPD is common but often missed. Early diagnosis saves lives. If you have ongoing breathlessness, a chronic cough, frequent chest infections or exposure to risk factors, please speak to a health professional.

Today is International Men’s Day, raising awareness of men’s well-being. Thank you to all the brilliant charities working in this field. 👇 [1/2]

I strongly welcome Salford City Council’s decision to exempt terminally ill people from paying council tax. Nobody facing a terminal diagnosis should have to worry about bills or enforcement letters when they should be focusing on their health and loved ones.

Thank you for inviting me to visit @moneywellness.com, it was great to meet the team and hear more about the vital work you do supporting people and families up and down the country. Fantastic to see such an important organisation based in Salford. Keep up the great work!
It was great to welcome @rebeccalongbailey.com MP to our offices today.

We’re looking forward to continuing to work together to make sure people in our local area and nationally can get the right support, at the right time.

I joined cross-Party MPs in signing a motion calling for the Chancellor to abolish the two-child limit in the Autumn Budget. Ending this cruel policy would lift 670,000 people, including 470,000 children, out of severe hardship and transform lives across the UK.

I spoke in Parliament about global tax justice. Multinationals shifting billions through tax havens deprive our hospitals, schools and care services of tens of billions every year. It’s time for transparency, fairness and change.

The Government have committed to consider pre-existing evidence they had not looked at when making their decision on the need for financial redress for 1950s born women due to DWP maladministration of state pension age changes. (1/2)

Today on Armistice Day we remember the courage, sacrifice, and love of those who served, and those who never came home. Their legacy lives on in our peace and our freedom. We will remember them.
