I’ve co-signed a cross-party letter to the PM calling for urgent action on HGV parking & facilities. Drivers move 80% of UK freight, yet face an 11,000 space shortage & some of the worst conditions in Europe. It’s time to fix this and give drivers the dignity they deserve.

I joined 70+ Parliamentarians and civil society groups in urging the Govt to rethink proposed changes to Indefinite Leave to Remain. Families who work hard, contribute and care for our communities deserve fairness, not retrospective rule changes.👇

A brilliant example of Salford at its best. Huge thanks to Lee Knowles for turning his Salford City FC prize win into a lifeline for people facing homelessness, and to Camptech Products for doubling the impact. Community spirit in action Foundation 92 👏

It’s #HeartUnions Week! I’m proud to have voted for the Employment Rights Act, the biggest upgrade in employment rights in a generation.

Now let’s implement it quickly and fully, and deliver Labour’s New Deal in full, to bring real change for working people ❤️🌹

As APPG Co-Chair, I was joined by 91 MPs and Lords in calling for the Govt to reconsider its rejection of compensation for 1950s women for maladministered state pension age changes. The Ombudsman was clear: injustice occurred, compensation should follow. Read the letter in full👇

Saddened to learn of the death of John Virgo, one of Salford’s own and a true giant of snooker.

A brilliant player, a much-loved broadcaster, and a huge character who brought joy to millions.

My thoughts are with his family, friends and all who loved him. RIP JV.

📺Watch: #ICYMI MPs voted overwhelmingly this week to scrap the two-child benefit cap, lifting hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty overnight. On @itvpeston.bsky.social I said the Government needs to get its skates on and sell the policies that actually improve lives.

📺Watch: Trust in politics depends on integrity, transparency and accountability. I spoke on @itvpeston.bsky.social about the need for a full inquiry into Mandelson's actions in Government. Leadership means putting the public interest first, always.
