Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790) was a writer, scientist, inventor, statesman, diplomat, printer, publisher, and political philosopher. Scholars believe he wasted much of his potential by being preoccupied with his thigh gap, an insecurity he tried to hide by becoming the first U.S. postmaster general.

Ted Litschman had just $11.78 to his name when he created this all-time bestselling poster. But Federated Ephemera Ltd. shared no profits. Litschman would later die broke after drinking what he thought was his own urine, but was, in fact, gasoline intended for his elderly mother’s Buick LeSabre.
